Now they've gone too far!

I was shocked, SHOCKED to see that model trains have become a political pawn…

In tweets and fundraising emails, [candidate] promised $25 gas vouchers to the first 100 people who smash a toy train at a Mobil gas station in Burbank, starting at 4:30 p.m. PST.

Now, let’s not turn this partisan… it’s about the trains.

This is the guy running for governor, right? Him and his “crazy train”! I don’t know why he had to pick BURBANK to pull this stunt.

Is it a “bring your own train” thing ?

If they supply the trains , you may be able to pick up some spares off the floor where the trains are smashed .

Be positive !!

Mike

I could see smashing model cars, trucks, or even airplanes… But trains…? The horror.

If I lived near there, I’d go and look out for G stuff and make the idiot an offer they couldn’t refuse or trade them for a thrift store HO car or two.

This guy is an idiot, he’s using this because he really has no other platform to run on and this ‘crazy train’ stunt is all he can garner attention with.

I am soooo tempted to protest this with a sign that says

Vic,

P-L-E-A-S-E do it!

Remember they used to say that California was the land of the fruits and nuts, well now they are all gone and just the flakes are left!! Look at the current Governor! They had him before and he was a flake then as now!

Maybe it is time those of us who are ‘real’ natives should return and re-establish the Bear Flag Republic, and remove all the ‘flakes’.

Paul

Really Paul??? Your honestly going to suggest that Ah-noold was a better Govenator even though he didnt do a GD thing and muddled up the works even worse than before he got his oversized ego elected? REALLY?

Lets see, since ‘Moonbeam’ got elected and has shown more backbone and leadership than that dummkopf Austrian ever did, we have had:

Balanced Budgets

Reduced Deficits

Budget surplus’

Reduced spending overall

IOWs he’s put the state back in the black and kept it there, where the dummkopf could only swagger and knock up his maid.

Sorry Bob, but comments like that, especially given the state is in the best shape its been in years, chaffs me…

What a cretin.

WHOEVER he is.

What will this exercise in stupidity teach the younger generation who would have been our next model railroad engineers?

Just when mrs tac and I were ready to give the next state down from Oregon the benefit of the doubt, along comes something like this that puts it, as far as we are concerned, back on the ‘DO NOT GO THERE’ list.

What next? Book burning?

tac

Vic in the other thread peolple have been corrected for saying oil cans, flatbeds, and whatever so here’s my turn in this thread

If you owe money then there is no such thing as " Budget Surplus" it’s actually “Budget Misappropriation” as funds were not allowcated to reduced the monies “owed”

going to grab some popcorn and hide in the corner now

Mark, whichever way you want to call slicing up the salami, Ol’ Moonbeam has done a massively FAR better job of managing things than Ah-noold Schtupidegger ever did.

The bloke must be given some credit for getting publicity----look what’s happening here .

Not my problem of course .

Mike

Why? If a kid wants to break his own toys that is one thing, but this? Why?

Oh the inhumanity of it all.

As California resident, here’s my understanding of the “smashing of a train” stunt.

It was to dramatize a position against a “bullet train” proposal.

The candidate running against our current governor is adamant that the “bullet train” proposal from Los Angeles to San Francisco is not worthy of our state government’s approximate $225,000,000 support. Gov. Brown is supporting that state subsidy to help build a segment of track in central California.

Unfortunately, other topics cloud the political discussion as lacking comparative significance – such as:
Issuing California Drivers Licenses to illegal residents and state support for sanctuary cities in Calif.

Some people can`t see past the end of there noses . If these people keep getting there way, we be back in horse drawn wagons.

Arnold was an idiot and a terrible governor. That said, Moonbeam is no prize either, despite occasionally getting something right.

Ray I will take Moonbeam over the Dummkoph any day of the week

No mention of the “event” on local news so far, as much of an advocate for HST as I am its sad to say that the political climate around the state has become so vitriol that I really have my doubt’s whether it will ever come to fruition.

One thing is for sure, if the HST is derailed. It will be politically dead for another twenty years. And air and road traffic here will only get worse…probably much worse.

Obviously, none of you have read the newspaper, checked the news online, or watched the TV news. If you had, then you would have known that the gubernatorial candidate and challenger to the current governor, was not promising “$25 gas vouchers to the first 100 people who smash a toy train at a Mobil gas station in Burbank.” He was merely offering folks $25 gas cards, presumably to vote for him, and not, as the first poster wrote, “inviting them to smash a toy train.” The facts are, the candidate, who is running against the governor, was giving away $25 gas cards to the first 100 people who showed up at his rally (rant) at a Mobil station in Burbank. He said, and I quote, “Governor, don’t raise our gas prices to fund the crazy train.” According to the LA Times, the guy smashed a windup toy train to protest the governor’s plan to build a bullet train linking San Fran with LA. The toy train was a symbol, nothing more. If it had been an airport or cruise terminal, he probably would have destroyed a toy plane a ship. Wendell got it right, pretty much. But many others just piled on without knowing what the heck any of this was about. Talk about herd mentality. Why is any of this on a model train site anyway?

Joe

Because the rivet counters here want to include it in their layout .
