Some of us, North of the Border, have been wondering what surprises The Hunter will let out of the bag next. Now this one is big enough!
Oh, um, combining CP and CSX, how would that work? They are regulated with 2 different sets of regulations from 2 different governments. Me thinks Hunter is trying to unload his company, so he can get a fat buyout and walk away. Just my opinion, for what that’s worth (nothing).
extra, extra
David, I’d say, No different from when CN and IC merged…
Have any of these RR given a thought to increasing their capacity by building some more track to move trains on?? I the bean counters were less worried about the bottom line on their spreadsheets and more intent on moving freight there would be some construction activity and then movement. Also, get the States Hwy Departments involved with removing ‘at grade crossings’, the major source of accidents! We are not in the 1800’s any more, we don’t run on smoke signals!
If you want to move more freight, lay down more track!

Paul, oh no. we are busy turning roadbed into bike and walking trails.
CP is already regulated by the united states. CP has extensive trackage throughout the northern and midwest states. So for them to merge with a us carrier would not be a problem.
David, please don’t get me started on that one! The “leaders of Seattle” want to build a ‘New’ Trolley line and spend Billions for new ROW, when someone suggested that they had it already, just plow up the asphalt on the bike trail there was a ‘fire storm’. The whole thing was to continue to miss spend the peoples money!!
That was D-9’s are for remove the bike trail and put high iron back down for Steel wheels on Steel rail!

A little perspective
And how does CSX see it?
Reading the last paragraph of the article had me scratch my head and wonder on which continent or planet these guys live.
Hans when you live in your own little world, reality is what you make it. I know.
Right you are David!
Precisely the reason each of my posts carries the "Inspired by the real world" inscription; just in case someone should ask one day.
Those who dwell on and in the past miss out on a few things in the present — says he who models a railway set in the 1969 through '75 era
Hans, you are more “modern” then I am. My chosen prototype was around from 1871 until sometime around 1910, depending on what source I use.
