Now I remember

… why I got a Plus Membership with VIMEO, it is because YouTube is really not all that good. :frowning:

Uploads: they take seemingly “forever”, that is if they don’t conk out somewhere along the line. Or they do some funky stuff with the audio which means upload it again, Sam!

Quality: It has improved but I’d sure like to know why the default doesn’t automatically switch to the native res i.e. if I upload in 1080p I expect to see 1080p without having to go and select.

Thumbnails: they could (should) call them Dumbnails! Skimpy selection to choose from - no way to garb one from the video and use it - and again, it sure takes time for them to show up.

So why do I bother? Just to see where the vids - both the VIMEO and YouTube versions - will show on Google and Google Alerts. I purposely use the same titles, the same description and the same tags. :open_mouth:

Mean as I am I started a running comment on my YouTube channel about all the crap one runs into on YouTube.

Check it out

If this keeps up I’ll be out of there pretty soon!

The experiment has been terminated after I uploaded 32 videos and had a “nice” variation of different screw-ups. From “Upload failed” to the audio going wonky, the thumbnails not showing up, an HD video showing up as SD, the video supposedly being too long - even though others that were longer uploaded correctly. When uploading to YouTube I always had to go for a cup of tea, that’s how slow the outfit is. Sooooo I deleted all but one video, with an audio glitch in it, as an illustration just how “well” (NOT) things work on YouTube.

I learned back in 2008 that Youlesstube was not the best way to post videos.

Only have used Vimeo and have had very few issues. Especially with my extreme Christmas light videos.

Hi Dennis,

So did I, so did I!

But hope springs eternal that even the lousy service they offer could have improved since 2007. It hasn’t in the quality department i.e. when uploading one still gets way too many glitches of all kinds.
