Now all the character assassination has started

Terry...You are a language expert, so your chosen words were deliberate and meant to offend....
Sir, you choose to exaggerate both my intellect and my intent.

Nothing was further from my mind than deliberately offending anybody, including you. Nor am I devious enough to enveigle a malicious note into what was an otherwise simple attempt to make a distinction between what I saw as a thread that was developing into a nice bit of antagonism, [something of which there is often a more than a trace on this otherwise friendly forum] by a literary simple ruse - that of posting a counterpoint to it and highlighting it in the title.

I am nowhere near as clever as you give me credit for, more’s the pity, or else I could make money by my writing.

Perhaps if my poor knowledge of the English language was more precise and lucid, we would not now be in the confrontational episode in which we seem to be placed.

I am moving on from this episode, and will begin a new thread that has no unspoken ‘hidden agenda’ or subtle criticism.

When my older girl was in preschool we took in LS trains, a 1" scale loco, and a full sized loco whistle… pretty much EVERYBODY had a great time. We were invited to come back when the younger one was in preschool as well, but couldn’t go. Why? The law changed… and I can’t do anything to help in the schools anymore.

(Background story) My (now ex-) wife was having a NASTY 6 year custody fight with her first ex. Part of that was him rewarding (trips, pets, etc) their daughter for telling “stories” about what happened at our house… Long story short, she made up a story for daddy (who promised her a rabbit), who called CYS, who showed up at 7am and was told to shove off (by me…stupid mistake)…so now I have an “indicated” (until the now 15YO turns 23) in retaliation for making him get a warrant to come find… nothing. The schools don’t care WHY it’s there, just that it is.

Just to get back to the subject at hand (and away from any anal retentives unwarranted displeasure with Mr TAC’s title), our club sets up a display at the Greenburg show in FT Washington every year. (and a few other shows). Our layout seemed to be the big attraction for the kids. Since it was a floor layout the could get right down at floor level and watch the trains go by. That was always the biggest fascination for me and really enjoyed watching them react.

(sorry about the picture quality. They have to be at least 10 years old. I need to get some recent pictures)

Woooooooooooooooooooot!

Ken, that looks great! Up on base at Alconbury Elementary School we set up a couple of loops [one analogue and one digital] on desks in the library, and another large loop on the floor to get close up and cosy with. This last set-up usually gets a ladybug eggliner and couple of Stainz or similar locos. We also put in a switch and a short siding so the ycan do a bit of switching around - increasing the play value no end.

Then we just let the young train engineers get on with it and sort themselves out into who does what and when. In general they are pretty good about it all, and we interfere as little as possible.

As for the hooley up at Sawtry this last weekend, the club member photographer profi has taken about a hundred pics, and a preview last night showed some real prize-winners! I’ll try and post a few somehow, maybe ask Steve to do it for me as I have a geas on this computer as far as posting piccies outside e-mail is concerned.
