Just a small thing , as the actress said to the bishop .
Was shopping Saturday and picked up something useful . No , not a life threatening disease , you aren’t that lucky .
We have a chain of shops here called “Poundshop” , wherein every item on sale costs —guess— a quid .
I picked up two packs containing a led lamp in a housing , complete with batteries(three in each) and reflector ,
all hung together on a piece of flexi wire . Two complete lamps per pack .
When we got them home , we were most gratified to find that these things produce a beam which lights up an area extending about 3 feet from the lamp at about 6 inches off the ground . This beam is visible in the half light of a house in daylight .
The business end comprises a reflector which is easily removable along with a generous amount of cabling , the batteries are held in the clip used for mounting the lamp .
So , what’s all this about , then ?
The shining end is exactly the right size for a loco headlight , very bright , very neat .
So , when you are out shopping , think laterally and you may spot the same sort of thing .
Think , the equivalent of four headlamps for $3.60 . Not bad .
Seek and ye shall find
They would also make good yard floodlights with NO modification . Just stick on a pole .
They may be available in Walmart , they do some odd things . If you find any on sale , let us all know on the forum .
Mike
ps also picked up a similar thingy to plug into a USB port to light up the keyboard on your laptop . Same price
two to a pack . Presumably made by unpaid labour somewhere .
pps So that’s where I was Saturday , Ric
Not sure where to stick this…
You had us going there for a minute, Mike.
Several were preparing to tell you exactly where…
A good attention getter ,I think .
Mike

They have more than their share of taxidermists, but that’s just as well.

Mikey…I talked with your friend David Buckingham in Durango…at the NG Convention…he seems to have a fair sense of humour. I should be home by Thursday evening…talk more then.
David , in common with most Englishmen , has a good sense of humour . Sadly often misunderstood . But we shall keep trying to amuse you . Some will fall on stony ground and so on .
Mike
ps we need the sense of humour . We are often mistaken for "whingeing Poms " when they , by definition are recent arrivals in their new country , whingeing about the Brits just to show they have turned their back on the old country . A common trait .
ROFLMAO !
