Large Scale Central

Not quite the 2011 challenge - My first challenge

Is something like Korm’s… except instead of just clutter, I have to finish about 5 ongoing projects to get them out of the way!!! First up, Ralph’s boxcar… it looked like this:

then it got tossed in a box for a few months… then it butchered and it looked like this:

then it sat on a shelf for a few more months… TODAY I finish it!!!

what are you making of it? a convertible?

taking 3 short cars and making 2 taller ones… look at the first pic, the stock New Bright cars are midgets

yes, now i see.
if they are less wide too, i would just take the lower part of the box as basis and build new sides from coffeestirrers.

I thought about new sides Korm, but I didn’t have extra decals… :frowning: Anyway… some progress! Wherever Ralph’s car goes, Shawn’s tends to follow… I gave them different heights and door styles so they wouldn’t look so much like clones.

And Ralphie back in color. It still needs weathering. And as you can see in this comparison to B’mann’s little “1:20.3” car, it now doesn’t look TOO awful bad…

Mik,
Good job “super-sizing”
Ralph

I should scribe the ‘boards’ into the putty… and I may yet. Just not quite sure what is the easiest/quickest way.

The “Union Line” car needs a repaint as well. Not too much fast through freight on the narrah gauge.

Next on my list is to box up 2-4-0 #3 to go to France, and get Rodney’s stuff in the mail to him (already boxed, just accidentally left on the counter last week!)

Mik they look great. I always like that style box car shorter and taller. Im still waiting to see some snow pictures of your layout

Well, the RPO is done. The milk car is ‘almost’ done and looks really sharp! I’ll have to fit leaf springs on the trucks another time - I thought I had another set, but can’t find 'em. Ralph’s car is done - unless I decide to re-side it (to make it appear wider) since I found the second set of decals he sent. The baby Climax got repowered, now it pulls like it should (and rather more than a prototype 8 ton engine could. - Kim had it dragging 3 coaches tonight with no slip!)

Gotta get 3 boxes ready to mail tomorrow and re-arrange a bunch of stuff so I have more room to work.

The railtruck, ‘nonesuch’ 4-4-0 and 0-6-0 need put somewhere safe until I get a few parts.

24 days left?
