Large Scale Central

Not just on model railroads

Good one came on the radio this morning and promptly showed up in my Google Alerts. Read all about it! What a way to run a railroad!!

Someone’s (or a bunch of someones) gonna have a bad New Year once the investigations get rolling. Pretty shoddy…

If I go out and run my trains up and down the tracks I can bill somebody? Just asking!

Let me see if I get this right. CN did not own the tank cars. CN did not own the Fuel. CN got an order to move some cars as a unit train… CN as required by law as a common carrier was required to move the assigned freight. CN verified the contents of the cars and knew that the shipment movement had the proper paperwork and the contents were not illegal. CN properly reported each movement… CN got paid for their services…

It appears to me that CN may have been used by someone for something, but CN did nothing more then it does everyday. Should they have raised a flag… you betcha…

Very interesting.

What is the money trail? Who, or what, benefited?

I love conspiracies.

Perfectly stated Dave…Not illegal, propably not moral either…

Me thinks it’s a perfect scenario for an open house operation or even to train new engineers and conductors on your layout.  Now all you need is find a “sponsor” errrr shipper who pays for each move. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

On the 1:1 side, will be interesting to find out how the shipper worked thi to make money, gotta be some wrinkle regarding differentials on export/import.

Typical. The RR did nothing illegal and in fact they could not legally refuse. Yet the focus of the article is all on them, and the actual perpetrators of the shady shenanigans get barely a mention at the end of the article.
