Large Scale Central

Not a happy camper

Shawn,

You have the wires going in the wrong hole. In the instructions, para 4, It may not be clear to you. But in the front of the chassis, not in your photos, there is a small hole in front of a boss for a screw from the bottom plate, drill that hole open to 3/16", and continue downward so the hole is continuous through the bottom plate. The the wires follow the stainless are before entering the chassis. This way the wires add no tension or direction to the pilot truck.

In the meantime, I’ll see if I cn get a picture for you.

Shawn,

You didn’t get a 5th generation drive from Bachmann, I believe you got the fourth gen which has a metal yoke with one large plastic gear and a small worm on the motor. If this is true, it is not a very good drive, especially for $25.00. But I think they are replacing what was in the loco, and no up grade. The upgrade is more complicated, because you have to use a different wheel and axle setup. A change like that is more of something I might do.

Shawn,

Just sent you four pics to explain the correct wire routing hole and how to get there.

I don’t know how to post here, my apologies.

Also was getting ready to shoot a pic of a fourth and fifth gen Bachmann motor and gearboxes, but my camera batteries (2) said they were petering out. I will post them tomorrow, unles I can find another battery for this shot only.

Lucky day, found another battery, took the pics and have forwarded them to Shawn.

I hope this helps. If not, I am working tomorrow.
