Large Scale Central

Northeast Outdoor Railway Festival

The current issue of Cowcatcher Magazine just came in the mail.
A nice article about putting a new spin on the unsuccessful Northeast Large Scale Train Show and thinking outside the box.
June 19-21 will be the Outdoor Festival in Palmer, MA with outdoor running plus stuff in tents. It was a whole page article encouraging something different.

I have already ordered my convention cars.

Anybody thinking of going? I look forward to meeting ANYBODY.

I was asked to be there but I won’t be around. Too bad too, it sounds like it could be good.

I plan to be there with NHGRS.

Oh, no!
I was looking forward to chewing the fat with you.

I should be there with NHGRS, too. I live nearby, do not a bad to for me.

Do we wish to have a Drag and Brag table at the event?

While Bob can not make it Al and I could set one up for Saturday if there is interest.

We will also have a white elephand table and small Raffle on Friday and Saturday and a few layouts open before and after the evenr.

I could bring something for the D&B so long as I’m not the only one. Is your layout track powered?
Definitely will start looking for stuff for the White Elephant table.

I am working on my wife to go, it is over her two hour travel limit, we would be there Saturday and maybe stay over night and leave early Sunday.
Anybody know how many layouts there are to tour ?

I can bring something for DnB but may have to cut out early on Sunday as my daughter has plans with me.

I too can bring something for DnB. Won’t be as good as some of the other stuff, but I’ll do my best!

Really wish we could go, but we’re at the Great Lakes show, and that’ll be it for our annual railroady travel & vacation time budget I think.

Have a blast!!

Hey everyone,

Thank you for all your comments so far. I must admit, I am quite competitive, and it’s tough to see the comment in the first post regarding the “unsuccessful” NELSTS. The truth is, it was unsuccessful (I just hate to admit it), but I want to point out that the exhibitors had a great time and were able to make some money from selling and displaying their items. Unfortunately, attendance was not great, putting Amherst on the unsuccessful side of the spectrum.

However, that won’t stop us! Our mission is to promote the hobby and educate those who don’t yet realize how much fun model railroading can be. I’ve been an HO scaler for most of my life, but I’ve really changed my perspective thanks to our garden railroad, which has been a fantastic journey over the past 2.5 years.

We welcome everyone to come and run a G-scale train. I hope to see you there!

No one has answered my question about track power. Is it available?

Not at the ARS clubhouse, Lou. I’m not sure, but I don’t think Stan runs track power either. I havent had the pleasure of visiting his railroad yet.

John make an effort to go … You’ll never forget it…

I hope to! He’s invited me, I just havent had time yet. Hoping this year though!

Bring your wife, and the two of you can be a crew (you can fight over who gets to be engineer… Linda won that one when we went; but being the conductor is fun too).
