North Platt Depot Canteen WWII

NORTH PLATTE CANTEEN

Great video. A lot of people didn’t know about the train stop at the North Platte Canteen until they saw this video. I didn’t.

This is awesome. I had never heard this before. It gave me chills…

TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO WATCH…YOU’LL NOT REGRET A MINUTE.

Dave,
Excellent video. Thanks for the link.
What a heart warming story, and trains too.

I read about this wonderful canteen, which was a most welcome stopping place, not long ago. The film brought the words I had read to life. I guess for many today, who have traveled a fair amount, it is hard to appreciate that for many guys this was their first real journey outside their town or State.

great video and story…

Nice find David, Thanks

As I understand it Alan, England treated the US troops very well prior to their June 6th departure, and still do today. I have a friend that was in the USAF in England 30 years ago and still keeps in contact with many Brits.

I was in England when I was in the Navy.
Made some good friends there.
Really fine people.
Never met a Brit I didn’t like.

Cool video.

Jon.

David-
Thanks. I will show this to our daughters.

I had wondered if there was some form of recognition to be seen in North Platte today. I guessed the railroad station was gone, as are so many famous stations in America, but I was pleased to find this Memorial.
