Norfolk Southern's president inspection train. Lot's of Photos

On another topic the NS was discussed and I thought I would share these pics of the NS president’s inspection train. It’s a real beauty. The loco’s are painted in the old Southern paint scheme and the passenger cars are still the beautiful Tuscan red. If you look there are even some heavy weights in the mix. Then at the end is the unique inspection car with theatre seating. My friend was the engineer for the trip which he described as the trip of a lifetime and i got to meet the NS president and got a short tour of the train. No pics were allowed inside and I only got to see the dining car and business car. The business car was a lil boring but the dining car still had all the flavor of big railroading back in the day when steam was king. Here are the pics, not the best, but enjoy. The train coming across the high level bridge.

Entering the east yards in Conneaut, Ohio

Turning to go south at the Diamond in Ashtabula Ohio

Hope you liked them Terry

Why not ? What's wrong with you :O Ralph

Thanks Terry. What a beautiful train. Love the A-B-B-A power. And that’s probably the shiniest train that’s not a model I’ve ever seen!

Lotta streets named after him Ralph................One Way.................likes pix but don't take any.........;)

I was in a customers car on a road test and never expected to see that!

Terry;

Thanks for all the still and video coverage of the NS president’s train. One thing that always jumps out at me when I see prototype equipment in high-gloss paint, is how “rippled” it looks. I suppose the “ripples” are some kind of side-effect of the high gloss paint.

Best,
David Meashey

Dave,

IT IS RIPPLED!! The high gloss paint just makes it stand out. Flat paint hides a multitude of fopas. I think Jon hit it best.

Bob;

Oh, okay. When I saw all those trees reflecting on the paint, I thought maybe it was the play of light and shade that was making me think that. :confused:

Thanks,
David Meashey
