Also, NS and PAR jointly own the Mechanicville to Ayer stretch of the old B&M main. Its expected that NS will exercise the purchase rights for this stretch of track in the near future.

Glad to hear these pieces of trackage fell into the right hands. I have to say I really appreciate th NS. They seem to understand the value of steam heritage and public support. Whenever my son and I stand trackside below our house for some railfanning they alway smile wave and blow the whistle after an approving nod from me. (my son is only 3 1/2 and I’m sure they know it could scare the kids) Just seems the the dollar isn’t the only dream they are chasing. Who knows maybe the old D&H trackage will once again have the delight of some steam rolling through now.

Two arches buried under landfill??? Iconoclasts! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-yell.gif)

Other than that, great photo.

The Nicholson Bridge isn’t far from Scranton. Might need to try and get by there on the way to or from ECLSTS next spring. You can’t get a view like that without an areal platform, but it’s pretty cool from the ground too.
