Steve,

What gives me bad dreams is listening to, reading and watching the hell-a-baloo that tries to pass for discourse nowadays.

The next worst thing is realizing how many actually believe that it is discourse.

Bring on the handbaskets! :frowning:

Steve, Let me give something that will give you cold sweating shiversā€¦ Presidentā€¦Richard Gere VPā€¦Babawa Streisand Sec. Stateā€¦Sean Penn Sec. Defenseā€¦Bono If that doesnt stop yer heartā€¦

Steve, Actually, it doesnā€™t give me nightmares, but I do see it as the worst that the Dems have to offer and would be a nightmare for most conservatives. Iā€™m not conservativeā€¦but then again Iā€™m not a total tree hugging liberal either.

Naw, doesnā€™t cause me any concern, just tickles me funnybone. If you really want to shiver me timbers, put them on the ticketā€¦ please!

Not me. The only way that stuff can be eaten is heavily disguised in a mixed dish. Of course, I don't like steak & kidney pie, either. A waste of good steak.

:D:D:D

And what about that piā€¦y taste?

But while weā€™re on edibles, turns out that some of the Brits are on to something. Interview last night with the mayor of Tavistock (sp??) on CBC.
Well, it just so happens that the fine burghers (pun intended) of Tavistock got back to eating proper food and the purveyor of burgers aka McDonalds; Golden Arches etc. lost enough business to close the outlet in Tavistock.

I have never considered British cuisine to fall into the ā€œwholesomeā€ category, but by the sounds of it itā€™s a step up from the McDonaldā€™s fare, at least in the Tavistock region.

The tragedy of British cuisine, one of my long-ago teachers sadly remarked, was that the farmers produced excellent material that was murdered in the kitchen. Something to do with a tendency to regard the finer things of life as effete snobbery or, worse, French.

Speaking of nightmares is remiding me of people cooking a fine expensive steak to the point of burning itā€¦egads; they might as well stick with hamburger and put it in the coals until it is charcoal.

On the subject of "Trains", which is a rare topic on this part of the forums....

I wake quite often with a lingering headache, caused by the nightmare of the vision and sound of an LGB Mogul, going round and round with that constant NOISE OF BELLS, WHISTLES, and CHUFFā€¦please someone, turn it offā€¦and at the same time switch off the STINK of the smoke units on everything.
