Last night we went again to the evening parade at the Marine barracks at 8th and Eye st. SE in DC. Every Friday night between memorial day and labor day the parade ground is open to the public, and you get to hear a short program from the band and the drum and bugle corps, and then the silent drill team performs, which is pretty remarkable if you’ve never seen it. If you are in DC in the summer, it’s a nice way to spend an evening. And eighth street is really hopping these days–lots of great places to eat, lots of outdoor tables, lively and fun. It’s an easy walk from the metro on capital hill. Could be tough on a really hot night, but last night was beautiful.
Sounds like a great evening! Did you happen to take any photos you could post for us souls living in the far away west coast wilderness? The biggest deal in our parades are the fire trucks and a couple of decades old city vehicles, etc.
