News from an alternate universe

These people are crazy if they think articles like this will make me feel bad for them.

Life’s rough

Well, the real sad news is not that banker. He can get by on $500K. But, there will be job losses: the nanny, the chauffeur are the immediate ones. And with enough of those pay cuts in the neighborhood, the businesses that depend on that multi-million dollar spending will be hurt as well.

Here is the most important statement in that article:

“. . . neighborhoods of New York City and its suburban enclaves where successful bankers live, half a million a year can go very fast.” (Emphasis added.)

These guys are NOT “successful bankers”, but rather they are very unsuccessful bankers. If they were in any other industry, they would be standing in the unemployment line rather than just having their salary cut to $500,000! It is outrageous that every American taxpayer is still subsidizing these companies and their greedy managers who led us into the present situation.

As to the fallout in the form of their personal servents, it seems that many if not most of the privileged class employ illegal labor so they can cut costs and avoid paying employment taxes. I don’t feel sorry for either the employer or the employee in that situation.

Happy RRing,

Jerry

Bob,

So you’re the one that still reads the New York Times? I’ve heard about you.

Yes, but if they can’t vacation in Aspen, what happens to Colorado’s economy? Collapse, I tell you. Complete and utter collapse! We’re DOOMED!!!

It wants me to register to read, no chance, New York bed wetting types, I burst my pimples at you.

Don’t panic quite yet. I see no indications that those with this kind of spending power are planning on slowing down any time soon. At my company the owners cut staff pay by 20% so they didn’t have to cut their own. Still buying $2M homes and luxury cars while telling the staff we are in a financial crisis.

Nope, not me, I don’t read it, I just forwarded these links.

And, Jerry, that’s exactly the issue, these idiots aren’t the successful ones.

The only thing that they are successful at is being unsuccessful!

Hey Kevin, say what? I thought you guys were still busy either assembling or dismantling nuclear stuff or doing both at the same time? BTW from what I read some of those resorts could do with more ski bums instead of financial bums, would be easier on “creation” as a whole.

No more nukes here. Rocky Flats has been “cleaned up.” Of course, the gov’t is skimping on paying the health care for those affected by the radiation. I will say this–if the gov’t wants to run health care, they’ve already got denying claims down to a science.

Trouble is with the ski bums, they can’t afford to live in the towns anymore. Aspen, Vail, and other high end towns have to build “projects” to house the workers.

Eat the Rich…

Tastes just like Chicken!

The Idiots just passed the Stimulus Bill. Hang on we are going down. The dang thing has so much crap in it, it isn’t even funny. It includes a definite hit on our health care which is very bad.Daschle wrote it and he is an idiot. Says that the elderly will just have to get use to it. I am frightened for the future of our nation.

Noel,
You challenge the anointed one?

Noel,

It’s only eighthundred and some billion … wait for the 2 trillion plus absorbtion instrument they plan to deposit all the “Toxic assets” in. That is just on the drawing board.

What! OMG! No more summering in the Hamptons! You mean the right side of LI will revert back to potato farms! (seriously, when I was a kid, eastern LI was mostly potato farms).

Lots of folks still reading the Times. Its one of the last two papers not owned by that furiner Rupert Murdoch telling you right wingers what to think.

-Brian :stuck_out_tongue:

You got it wrong, Brian. I tell Rupert what to think! :stuck_out_tongue:

The worst thing to happen to LI was they turned Bridgehampton Race Circuit into a golf course.
