Vic,

I don’t either … if it’s good or bad. It’s a royal #^%$& all the way around. The only thing I got out of the latest: They either are really dumb or they are so good at playing dumb, that it’s hard to tell the difference.

I’ll say this, If I were the director of a TV soap opera and a script of the last 10 months were brought to me I would most likely throw them out as the script would be so ridiculous that it would be unbelievable. This is bound to become a textbook classic for business students…

Is this something Bob will post on sat?

It’s something that hopefully he will post on Saturday.

here is a link to BTOC where the latest is posted .

Yes Dennis, if you start at Sept 19th 2006 and keep on reading. Some of it got re-printed in the BTO mag. Quite a saga and as Warren mentioned with the Soap, hard to believe.

OTOH modern media is wonderful. If one would like to know it is easier to know or find out.

Oh to heck with it…I withdraw my comments… it would only get the little boys all in heat again

I still cannot get it out of my head that 'Mr. Beautiful day" was a patsy right from the start, to prolong negotiations to the point of reaching agreement between the parties who really wanted just pieces and not the whole shebang. Why pay for the whole pie when you can just buy one slice (the piece with the cherry on it)? As many have found out, eating pie will give indigestion and heart-burn if not eaten the right way.

That "patsy" thought occurred to me, too, back in December. Just in a different connection! BTW that was when the term "Strohmann" (stooge) surfaced first, Schöntag has quite some record and those who termed him a "railroader to the core" obviously haden't read about the "problems" at the "Öchsle" museum railway or the snags at the Rügen railway. As the saying goes: Those who can read have a clear advantage!

BTW we still don’t know who his co-investors were, but there are indications that point in a certain direction. Why he couldn’t raise the money from the banks is pretty clear.
The Kingsbridge bid back in Dec 2006 was higher than the Schöntag bid, it all hitched on the jobs, jobs, jobs, location, location, location.

It will be interesting to read what transpires in the next two or three weeks, that is if the press keeps on the ball.

HJ,
therein lies the problem. There are those who read and those who would rather be told! Reminds me of reading childhood fairytales to my son when he was very young. For some, the fairytales are still being told to them. For others the world is a big place, outside of their little world and what we are told does not necessarily correlate to what we read. It is all in the translation supposedly, but then who is doing the translation?

That’s a good question! who does the interpretation?

Hmmmmm…
Set Schontag up to be the stooge (fall guy), knowing full well he could never complete his obligation, in order to stall the proceedings and force liquidation so the assets would become available at basement prices…without the real estate… I’d say that Mr. Schontag might have a room mate from a former employee of Goldman Sachs and/or Kingsbridge.

Verrrrrry Interesting…

Makes more sense than any of the other conspiracy theories that have been put forth so far.
Read a newspaper translation on another forum that supports it. Must be true since it was published in a German newspaper !

Then again banks would never do anything underhanded- they’re pure as the driven snow.
For all of you Python fans out there I think they put the correct spin on banks

JJ,

Funny, no one mentioned a conspiracy theory in this thread. We just read the News that’s published and then ask some additional questions.

It would appear that the banks are savvy enough to hold on to perfectly good collateral to cover their loans and don’t fall for some “quickstepping ruse” some “saviours” would like to pull. As an investor I kind of like that concept.

And if I would be a borrower I’d be very careful, just common sense, really!

Hmmmm…

Could have sworn the article you translated on another site stated that the banks and creditors were responsible for putting this “savior” in place. Guess they’re not quite savvy enough to do a complete background check… or maybe they didn’t want to?

Yeah, and the dumbocraps were responsible for putting slick willie in office…so the dumbocraps are part of the monica conspiracy?

oh, goodie.

Dave,

It’s another case of the selective reading syndrome. Seems to be quite prevalent in certain circles.

John,

I believe you’ll find that here in this topic, http://bigtrainoperator.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1532

Isn’t it amazing how some “Blast” the court trustee for not checking out
Schoentag’s background, but yet wouldn’t it appear the banks could have put Schoentag into EPL possibly knowing he could fail.

I wonder if the banks ever expected LGBoA to come up with money to Bid.

Did the Banks have this planned to take Lehmann and sell to Marklin?
