Newqida value?

Vic,
I never even considered that there was anything underhand in my initial posting. My concern was that someone (must have been more than one to push the bid up) may have believed that they were bidding for the higher priced item. Why anyone would pay three times the actual retail is beyond me, but I have always put it down to testosterone levels in the final few seconds?

A few months ago I sold a couple of coaches on eBay, but I did highlight that they were made in China and were not, in any way, related to the German brandname. People who purchased them were very happy and commented on the quality for the price paid. In my case, I only recouped my outlay and did not make the 'big bucks' as in this listing.

So now we have price regulation on the LSC? I favor a free market system myself.

I think the term “Buyer Beware” applies here.

Tim as a seller I can understand your concern about overpaying or misunderstanding about what one is buying, but also as a seller I (personally) can only go so far when it comes to responsibility for bidding wars, as long as I am honest about what I’m selling its not my concern is two guys bid up an item way beyond what I think its really worth, I sold a bunch of old built up plastic anime model kits hoping to just clear old boxes out of the way, starting bid $1, to my shock the ending bid was over $200, and the buyer was happy, go figure. Now that said, even considering that the NewQ sold for 3x the Hammond price, thats still alot less than the actual LGB item has been fetching on Evilbay, and for alot of people even that price is a bargain compared to the “through the nose” LGB prices most ebay stores are charging. Alot of buyers either dont want to shop around or dont know how to shop around, alot are remote and have no hobby shops nearby to comparison shop (particularly a problem in LS) or dont care as long as they think they are still getting a fair deal otherwise prices or Ebay “Buy it Now” prices would be closer to actual competitive online shops.

You might killl me for that but the rolling stock doesn´t seem too wrong on the first sight and it seems affordable! The loco looks like a German class 80 loco and all is cheap! Is only the price cheap or are the whole waggonscheaply made(Not working well)? I like the freight waggons , especially the tank waggons ! Does anybody know the exact scale!? Is it more gauge 1 or more narrow gauge ??? Questions, Questions and more questions

cheers Joe

Joe,
the Newkq’s are extremely good value and compare almost to the millimetre for dimensions to the German brandname. Thus, scale is 1/22.5 metre gauge. The plastics used are quite brittle and tooling/scratching marks are evident on the car surfaces. However, do not be dismayed by my statements as I really like these cars and continue to purchase them (even though I collect the German brandname). Excellent value and faithful ‘copies’ of the original model. Look to the review section of this forum, where HJ has done a side by side comparison of the RhB boxcar and another on the tank waggons. I have also posted on the coaches and was very impressed with them, although you will need to withdraw the centre buffer slightly into the draw gear to enable reliable operation, or else coupler buffer lock will derail your cars.

At the moment it is not very easy to get the rolling stock in the dark red boxes as you might know ! So I am looking for affordable rolling stock . The ones in the dark red boxes are too expensive at the moment as the short batches thrown on the market by the new Brand owner are really sought after items and pay more than they are worth! So I look for alternatives ! To fiddle around with the buffers is nearly normal and to get coaches/waggons running smoothly is part of the fun ! I don´t mind that ! And for that money they save you can buy some nice steel wheelsets and they are even cheaper than the “red box” stuff
cheers Joe
