Newest project out of the shop

Will have led indicator lights for were the trucks back up too and inside led lighting too. Going off to the powdercoater monday or tuesday

Neat stuff. How do you have that cut? Is powder coating always black, or will this be a different color?

1st we draw the parts out on cad then use a water jet table to cut the parts and powdercoating can be any color and texture you can almost think of. I am going with a light tan color on this one. With this not being steel I do not have to worry about rust, all 1/8 5052 series Aluminum welded from the back side.

here is just one color chart for powdercoating.

This one has texture on it

Daniel, might I ask the dimensions of the building??? I can guess by the size of the boxcar, but was curious as to your actual dimensions…

Wow…that sure makes for a sturdy building. What will you do for the windows and doors?

some times grandt line, on here the old paper crimper tool to make rolling steel doors and windows will be clear acrylic sanded with 180 to fog them. I want to build the building so you have very low maintance and can be left out in the weather.

The size of the building is 24x24 1/4 by 15 tall.

I know what you mean about low maintenance! I also leave my buildings out all year long - my design guideline is that they have to be sturdy enough to be hosed off with the sprayer set on “jet”.

You might consider using hardware cloth if you want window panes - it holds up very nicely.

Or, since you’re going to use acrylic anyway, you could either use striping tape, or scribe a line and add some paint.

Then again, maybe you don’t care about panes.

Daniel… Looks like you are able for the distance you have above the doors, maybe put in “Z” brackets for the Coradated Doors to open and close or are you just going to make the dummy doors?

Very nice work…

Nice!

A water jet is on my want list as well as a CNC mill and lathe along with a 3D printer, tig welder, plasma cutter and a pony.

Son, the pony ya wanted is now 23 years old…

Well at least he got the rainbow suspenders and the Pretty Pretty Princess Dress…

Nice building, and darn near indestructible!

How much does powder coating cost?

Looks like dummy doors, less to go wrong down the road.

Awesome work!

Nice!

It is great modeling Daniel, it is fine looking. I did think, with a modification to the rail side of it, how great a Fire House it would make.

could make one in to a fire house… Might have to do it…
