Large Scale Central

Newbie to this forum

Hello everyone. New to this forum, but not to large scale or trains in general. My wife and I are die hard Euro modelers, both with vintage Marklin HO indoors and LGB in the garden. As of the present time, no garden line is running as we are preparing to move from Erie, PA to Kokomo, IN. We will have much more room for both scales and much bigger place to live. For now all I have in LGB is a 2020 Stainz starter set that goes under the xmas tree each year. I am working on a deal to aquire some Harz railway items including the 2-6-2T. I plan to purchase a 2-10-2T this spring. I hope that Marklin does well with LGB and I look forward to what is coming next. Cheers Mike and Michele T

Welcome Mike and good luck with the move…

Welcome to the mad house…! :expressionless: We model everything under the sun here…so you are forgiven… Look around at your leisure, and join in the discussions. Heated discussions and hijacked threads are the norm here…!! But we are a friendly bunch. We just speak our own minds…not someone else’s. Have a modeling problem…someone here will be glad to help you with it. Have a neat idea you want to share…we’re all ears. So sit back and enjoy. I think Bart has a fresh pot of coffee in the pot…unless his able assistant scrubbed out the pot again…using SOAP!!

Mike ... all Euro modelers are die-hards; you gotta be on this side of the pond. Welcome to the independent bailiwick of LSC! And BTW it is just as likely that a thread gets low-jacked. That's when it gets interesting!

Warren … what’s with your memory? Last time she used LYSOL, didn’t she? someone refresh my memory.

I am used to threads going off on rabbit trails, more fun that way! Whats a real pain is modeling the Euro scene on a limited budget, espicaly in 2 scales. Atleast once I have the 2-6-2T and the big 2-10-2T, I wont need any other locos! My wife got injured at the local Vol Fire Dept and we are expecting the final settlement from the workers comp insurance this spring, We plan to use some of the money to get the big steamer and enough LGB track to do what we want in the garden. Thanks for the welcome! Mike and Michele T

We can’t use the “L” word. Jon DeKales might take offense…

He doesn't like Lionel? Or Lima? Or the Lorax?

And ...... who is he? ;) :D

Yeah it’s ok to use the F word, but don’t dare mention the L or M words again, shame on you!!

just kidding folks

WELCOME and thanks for providing names, keeps the sharks away

Mike and Michelle, welcome! Harz Railways are among my favourites. I have a few electric engines (KISS, Aster/LGB) but I am looking forward to a Harz live steamer (I know Reppingen makes two). Depending on how much space you have you may want to look at the KISS line of wagons/cars. Hopefully Brawa and Accucraft will enter Harz line too. Best wishes from Tokyo, Zubi

Mike,
Welcome to the board!.
When I get an itch, I also dig out my Euro stuff,
I have a RhB glacier express, an MOB -III, a couple Kroks, some Austrian and a DB mallet with passenger cars.
But my main interest is Narrow Gauge western US.
But the Glacier express has been known to operate a few times at train shows…

Welcome Mike ! You can’t use the Jon either.

Welcome, Mike. Glad you stopped by!

That be Fleischmann, of course ... Oh, and Liliput, that the L word I was forgetting.

Jon DeKales is to LSOL as Bob is to LSC. There are those elsewhere that often add the letter “y” in the LSOL moniker. They also made a tank car using a Lysol can for a body and were going to take it to ECLSTS but Shad but a quick stop to it… Can’t figure out why…

Obviously Shad didn't see the humour in that. I could well imagine a tanker unit train with a suitably lettered variety of cars.

OTOH … whatever!

PS The “who is he?” had only rhetorical value! Forgot the TIC smiley!

Who is Shadfly ?

Mac MacCalla coined the “LySOL” monicker, if I recall.
The “y” was added to indicate the clean scrubbing he would do of anything he didn’t like.
Truth never seemed to matter.

We found out later he had webcrawlers searching for any reference to “LSOL”, that would report to him any commentary regarding said site.
It did NOT include the “y”.
When he found out we had all been talking about him behind his back, well, you can guess.

Hey, I resent that! No soup for you!
