New Wheels

I just paid $107 (merchandise, taxes, shipping) for 10 pairs of metal wheels with axles and I don’t even feel bad about it.

Whats wrong with me?

I don’t know.
Is that 10 axles, or 20?
I usually pay around $10 or $11 for 4 axles.

Next time you’re feeling generous, let me know
I’d be happy to sell anything I have for twice it’s value

Rudy - (I can call you that, no?) - That seems pricey to me too. You talking RR wheels and axles, or something more specialized. Last time I bought 4 axles/8 wheels in an Aristo blister pack, I think it was about $13. I still have a bunch in stock, so I haven’t priced in 2-3 years.

Jon, Call me Rudy or RJ no problem. I don't know why the prices have escaleted on simple wheels with axles but this seems to be about the standard lately. I've bought before recently so I guess thats why I don't feel bad about it. I've been gradually replacing plastic wheels on rolling stock as needed.

Rudy,
$10.89 for 4 Bachmann axles. There are better wheel sets out there.
But these work for me.

Holy cow - your right. I just checked the price on the Aristo wheel sets I bought in bulk years ago for under $12/4 axles and today the are $17.50.

Who says you can’t make money investing in this hobby. My NIB Aristo SS track has more than doubled in value, and now these wheel sets have increased 45%. That’s almost as good as Gold

Try pricing Accucraft BB wheelsets!
And I need 10 sets for my passenger set (Whenever it gets here.)
I figured I’d bite the big one and just get a case from Jonothan when the time arrives.

Yeah, you can sell your track used for more than you paid for it. The Chinese have gone insane with pricing that last couple of years. I would never be able to afford my layout if I was starting out now.

I said the exact same thing to my wife today after posting in this thread. Between 2 years of unemployment followed by pay cuts, then hour cuts I’d be luck to be able to afford the 4 foot circle & engine that I started with 9 years ago. Luckily I have plenty of stuff in-stock to keep me busy for a long time with very little cash outlay.

No brand name. Generic with a pretty crappy black paint job.

You can get 20 axles, enough to do 5 boxcars from Al Kramer on ebay, he just raised his price to $84 now + shipping I think that is $15 choice of blackened or silver. I bought the silver, before the price raise, says you can use a magic marker to blacken like em silver, and have so far been very happy with em!! I know there are some less priced bargains out there you just have to watch for them. Al is formerly of San Val, and now does his thing on
“Evil Bay” I have purchased several things from him, and he has always treated me right, just bought the new Bachmann caboose from him, and the wheels, very fair on shippping too!! Ive bought track, rolling stock, and engines, almost everything you can think of never a problem. He has stuff or access to things when someone else is out of stock!! The Regal

Timing is EVERYTHING… I was bidding on those San-Val wheelsets about 2-3 years ago. Kept getting sniped and losing, and losing, and losing…

So I got annoyed and bid in THREE sets at the same time, and ended up with all 3… Three times the wheels I needed, and more spare change than I really had. So I sold half of them to a friend.

NOW I have 11 cars that I wasn’t planning on building THEN, that need wheels… and the price has gone up, up, up…

Um, Marty, can I borrow the keys to the DeLorean? I won’t be long, I promise!

If you guys need wheel sets, check with me sometime in the near future, I may have some for sale!!! I’m in negotiation as we speak!!! Hah LOL The Regal Watch my “live” train site never know what may be on there for sale at any given time. The Regal
