This year we have had a ridiculous amount of acorns all over the yard and on my tracks. Acorns are the worse when it comes to derailing a train. I finally got tired of righting trains and replacing fuses so I picked up most of them and it made up a looong hopper train.
Check out all the fun.

Haha, That was great Todd, Lucky mine only gets leaves.
Where was the crane that loaded all those acorns??? Or, did the acorns just jump into the hoppers & gon???
And now some poor squirrel will go hungry.
With us it’s walnuts! (And I don even have a walnut tree–it’s next door.) And the squirrels bury them everywhere and next spring there are hundreds of baby walnut trees to rip out.
Neat video, but if that’s a bumper crop, what did I end up with???
Andy SSHHHH the “crane” this time was the giant hand from the sky. There were too many acorns and not enough daylight to mess around.
The squirrels had their chance. Overnight there were 2 loaded hoppers spotted on a siding and the next morning one was tipped over. I suspect squirrels or the chipmunks raided it. There are still plenty of nuts to be had and I bet several will end up being stored in the long tunnel.
These acorns don’t waste any time, many of them had already taken root with some 4" long!
The RR is happy to be rid of them.
BRUCE WOW !! Should I send my crew over to help??
Wow Bruce! Build a modified pellet stove and you'll have a sustainable energy source to heat the house! Err maybe the train shed...
So that’s where all the acorns ended up. Our area has a shortage of acorns this year. The bears are very hungry and acting aggressive. Great video
Instead of oak trees we have pines. I can’t run a train until I walk the tracks and collect the pine needles.
Nice video!
