New USAT 60ft box cars

I did not have much time after worktoday, but I did get the coupler raised (body mounted) very easy to do.

sitting next to an Evans car

I think I need a few more to weather up.

They look too new  Watch out for Rooster he likes to tag everything new. They look good.

Looking good, Marty. I really like the look of modern equipment, even if I model in 1:20.3!

Will be looking forward to your Kadee conversion Marty. Are you going to try to retain the USAT shock control box? Here’s pix of the coupler box open

Maybe you can find a way to attach a Kadee to the long shaft? Greg

I picked up one 60 ft boxcar from Robby last Wednesday… Ran it last weekend on the Club Layout, at a GTE show… Car ran well right out of the box… I raised the coupler on one end, to mate uop with my body mounts… Just watch out for those 4 screws at the corners of the coupler box… Man, those are tiny… Greg didn’t show them in the pics…

Hard to see those little suckers!

Greg

Based on time , I’m just using the stcok coupler.
lots to do before Sept, plus working full time.

I used the stock USA coupler supplied with the 60 ft boxcar… it mated nicely with my kadees, and had no problems during operations… I did use it as the last car on the train, as I still had the rear coupler on the lower position…

What. A 100 footer?

I guess these cars will be a talking point next month Marty. They look sharp indeed.

To large for my RR and out of era but it is nice to see pics of them on others railroads.

Good stuff Marty…
