I had an old panel truck(bank) that all the paint had peeled off from years ago. Was repainting my other die casts so thought I’d do this one. GOt the black fenders painted(brush with sign paint) and thought I’d make it a UP truck by painting the upper area a UP color I got from Marty that he had mixed up. Brushed it on also, then had the wild idea to make it into a rail truck, just for grins. Had some old wheels off my Zepnyer that were just the right size. Put in a new windshield and had some UP lettering and heralds so stuck them on also. It will just sit in the yard, next to the crane. Did not bother putting a motor in in, with the metal frame it would be a lot of work.
Great idea Jerry. How often would you run a rail truck anyway. I’ve got a small Whitcomb that even though it has a motor was never given R/C to actually operate it on the POC. The intention is to have it parked near the lumber mill as a mill switcher just for scenery.
Looks good Jerry
I like that.
May do something like that myself. But since I use track power, plastic wheels might be a good idea.
Ralph
Jerry, that is a good idea and a great piece of rolling stock to set in the yard
Very cool!
Nicely done!
Jerry, neat truck…
Thanks guys, Ralph the wheels are insulated, so could sit on powered track, just like your freight cars do.
the conversion is nice.
but i really admire the neat paint-job.
Jerry Barnes said:I realized that after I posted :D But I think I'll save my metal wheels for things that run or roll ;) Ralph

I got the rail truck outside in the yard. The crane I made is kept out there also. Flatcar is made from an Aristo stock car, I did not like it much, so took off the top and added some flatcar type sides. The wheels were an odd size, old ones that were on the Pioneer Zephyer, I replaced them with Gary Raymond’s ball bearing electrical pickup wheels, NICE!
