Since the weather has been rainy/damp for the last week now I decided to take advantage of the dreary weather and built a structure forthe KMRR. I am pretty satisfied with the way it came out (not bad for costing nothing, I used whatever I had around) It has that backwoods feel to it. This makes my third scratchbuilt structure. Just needs some time to weather outside. I got the idea for this structure in one of the recent GR Magazines. I didnt follow the plans but rather just the structure itself. I also have a solar powered light inside. the solar panel is hidden behind the shed. The snowshoes are hung up for the winter. Next project will be an old barn and fire tower.
Looks good, Shawn!
Cool.
The wagon wheel adds a nice touch.

That looks good, Shawn. If you’re going to keep the barrels outside, seal them - I had some that were just painted and they split. Be prepared for all sorts of stuff gathering on those details.
Are those live plants in front of the door?
That’s an awesome little scene was my first thought. However in staring into it more I love the hill and tunnel portal in the background (intentional or not) making it a big scene IMO. I think the placement of figures, elements is well done. I would paint the chicken’s base but keep it where it is though…
Just my thoughts?
You should post this in the Spring Thread as well.
Good stuff Shawn!
Thanks!

Thanks Bruce. Yes those are live plants. I have had them in those little pots for a few weeks now. They seem to be doing well. I did put some thompson water seal with a coat of flat clear coat on the barrels. Hopefully that will keep them from splitting. I had one that was not done and split on me.
Looks great Shawn. Nice snowshoes.
I did up a bunch of wood barrels and oil drums with just spray paints a couple years ago and only 1 has split after 2 years of being outside. You can get them cheap here -

Brian, that address didn’t work for me, but I found an address that had a barrel, about 2/3 of the way down the page.
