Hello everybody, just found this site, long time member of MLS, gscalecentral and the defunct gscalemad forums. My wife and I have returned to large scale for good. We sold my collection of HO and O scale to permantly moved up to G due to my eyesite not being what it once was. We are modeling the Lakeview branch of the SP just after the fall of steam on the SP. Motive power is a AB pair of LGB’s F7s that have had thier headlgihts backdated to golden glow style for the main beam and a single beam Mars light in the upper light. Current operations are indoors with an overhead line in my living room(out of service as I stole track from it for the new indoor layout) and a chest height loop around my small 9’x10’ train room. A garden line is in the planning stages. I did put a few odd spare items in the for sale forum that are excess to our needs. My railroad actualy interchanges with a friends garden line he is building. His is an Oregon area 3 ft gauge logging line using a Bachmann Connie for motive power. I ship him supplies for his log camps, supplies for his furnature factory ect. He ships me completed furnature, wood pallets from his pallet company and dimensional lumber from the sawmill. We use a car card forwarding system to keep track of car movements. We swap out freight cars when ever we see each other. I also used this system when in the smaller scales and local club. Operation is very popular with local area modelers no matter what the scale. I am still needing more SP and western road name rolling stock and I want to find a USA Black Widow GP9 to match my F units. My wife works at a local credit union, I am unemployed at the moment but going to school to become a certified auto/diesel mechanic. The site looks great and we are having a great time. Welcome to the site, Mike!
Welcome, Mike.
welcome aboard…
A big Welcome from over here in yUK!
I too find myself at the end of an operation based in rural Oregon. Notwithstanding that I live less than 250 miles west of Antwerpen, my line is nevertheless the lumber handling end of the Port Orford Coast RR, run by LSC member Mr R Smith of Port Orford. He has all the rod engines, and me and ig have all the geared stuff, electric and live-steam. As you can readily appreciate, a short line that is as extensive as this one needs some careful thinking about, something that I’ve just never managed to do, as I enjoy myself way too much to think about it.
Best wishes!

Welcome Aboard!
Welcome aboard to the happy couple,Mike and Michele.
Obviously being unemployed and in school will curtail any huge developements in the garden, but I hope to have a simple loop with a couple of sidings/industries by this time next year. Right now we are recouping from buying the F units so I can pick up some used track from Watts Train Station in Zionsville to retrack my overhead loop prior to the holidays, which is when that line gets used. I just got the B unit home yesterday, man the sounds are awsome, wish the horn they used was a single chime and not a 3 chime horn sample. But still sounds good. Both Steve and myself are planning to both use Airwire900 wireless battery power. For now my indoor is on track power, The F’s will get the airwire system next spring I think. Thanks for the warm welcome. Mike and Michele
Welcome aboard!
Welcome
Had an enjoyable afternoon chatting with Dave Watts at Watts Train Station today. Came home with 2 older Aristo cars, a black SP Overnight 40’ box car and a SP bulkhead flat car. Here are a couple of pics, one of my USA SP caboose in one of the curves and one of the corner of my new SP bulkhead flat with my Gscalemad pin for old times sake. Cheers Mike
