Chris,
His nickname would have to be “roadkill”.

Took the train engineer down to the basement and tried it on my inside layout yesterday. IT WORKS! Don’t know what we did but I can run trains. Still can’t figure out the momentum but at least I can play trains indoors and use my old train engineer on the inside loop outdoors!

In computah-speek, FRED is an acronym for “_____ Ridiculous Electronic Device” (or so one of my techs says).
“FRED”…Flashing Rear End Detector…it brings up the rear, in place of Markers.
The full function is to monitor brake line pressure at the end of train, and transmit that information by radio to the cab of the lead locomotive. It also, in most cases, depending on juristiction; have a flashing yellow or red light .
As a Fred, and put in the position of “Bring up the rear”; I feel more and more like a “Horse’s Arse”…!!!

On my Saturday excursion - in the rain - I came upon a sign that warned of horses … oh yeah really?!? Not horse with rider, but horses … free to roam wherever.
Well I can attest that there was no FRED on the horse’s ass that pooped right on the road. So much for that theory!

Took the %$#$%Aristo TE into the basement, Transmitter and receiver. Hooked it up and it works–flashing LED’s and all. Didn’t try to link it, didn’t do anything but wire it up.
Take it out side and it don’t.
Go figger!

Since the name of the railroad is on my signature should I just go by “Dirt?”
Note to all using the 75mhz TE.
I have found the HOTE instructions to be better especially for programing the 75mhz on board with the button sequence.
These instructions have an excellent chart for the 3 settings.
Fred bought the TE from St Aubins.
Last Wednesday he called them about our problem and the salesman said Aristo packed the wrong instruction booklet in the box.
He said, I’ll send you the right one in the mail “right away, today”.
Yesterday Fred got the right one in the mail.
IT WAS THE SAME ONE AS IN THE BOX!!!.
Very, very knowledgeable salesman at St Aubins, I see.

Also very knowledgeable people assembling products for Aristocraft too. My newest TE also came with the wrong book in it.
Warren Mumpower said:My second TE came with no book at all. But this is a trackside TE, so the book I got with my first TE seems to still apply.

Ya gotta remember the folks assembling the stuff for Aristoe can’t read English !
