New stuff

Making the best of a sad trip, funeral for father of my son in law, II Went to a antique store in Fresno ( my home town) that said there was a train store, found a little section of the store and picked up a brand new not ever been on tracks and probably never been out of the box Aristo 1998 boxcar

. 1.5 hours after it got home I voided the factory warranty , replaced the plastic wheels and sawed off the truck mount and added 907 KaDee couplers.
Also picked up a box of 3 MTH hight power line towers that look very cool. The “store“ also had a box of Aristo power line towers, but left them for someone else.
. When I got home a delivery of 2 48’ containers from a Facebook seller

They are used and the one has obviously been on the bottom of the well car , look close you can see a darker paint on the bottom 1/3 of the
container.

Also saw and should have purchased a new GP38-2 in Amtrak livery, but didn’t want to push the wife’s kindness for my purchases

Adding to the roster, at a local sale / swap meet, picked up this brand new, USA car with metal wheels, still in factory bag and shrink wrap over the Caterpillar, drop center car for $25 and 4 buildings for $100 total . Dude there had about a dozen AristoCraft cars for $20 each and wish I would have picked them up for resale.

Little bag included with the car had 2 chains and cotter pins to mount them included. Today I voided the warranty , cut truck mounts and installed body mount KaDee 907’s, so it’s ready to roll

Nice finds, but 'ya got to tone down those chrome wheels

Quite the deal, Pete, nice!

nice flatcar…
lovable houses!
(and on a MIK-workbench)

Hey I loved stainless steel and chrome on my Peterbilt, but yeah it is a little odd on the car , might have to do that and several other cars too, the shiny ones look a little much, probably have to buy a quart of it to make everything look right!

Great scores especially that flat with the tractor. What deal. They usually go for $100.

When Aristo was in business I was a big fan of their chrome plated wheel sets to replace plastic wheels. I’ve not tried any blackener on them. I spray paint them with red oxide primer then follow with a dusting of flat black for a rusty look. I use a rubber O ring to mask the tread and a piece of wire insulation to mask the axle.

I use a wide brush and mix up some black and brown acrylic paint. I spin the axle and hold the brush to the front of the wheel while it rotates.

Yeah that’s what I’m going to do, dark gray or black, flat of course

Korm, did that on purpose, up high , so easier to take the pic , and cleaned spot as far as background and other crap !!!
