New site issues

The Forum list is difficult to read on my monitor (laptop at 1920x1080.) The topics are huge text, but the ‘last post’ is tiny grey text and I can hardly see it.

I’m also confused about the ‘quote’. I tried the usual code (sq brkt) and it put “” around my text. Is there no way to just selectively quote something?

When I edit this, it loses the line breaks and makes everything one sentence.

And how do I stop the ‘email me when someone replies’ box from always being checked on the Quick Reply box. I changed all my Settings to ‘no email’.

I just press the quote button. That brings up the entirety of your post. Then I deleted what I didn’t want to see. Though it did remove the comment I had defined with a less than and a greater than sign.

My reply to a topic marks it as Unread again, even though only my own post is new.

Firefox spell checker does not work within new topic or reply boxes (message editor).

I have to sign up each time I try and log in, and I STILL get that goofy train wreck telling me I’m on the wrong line. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Deep breath, tac, and tell me what you’re trying to do. if you’re getting the trainwreck picture, youre trying to get to a page on the old site that doesnt exist any more. Do you have the old forums bookmarked? you’ll need to change it, or bookmark the main site.

Ah, right. All done, thank you Mr M.

For some reason, even before the transfer, the body type on this site has become very small, almost impossible to read. I have tried adjusting the screen definition on my computer, but it doesn’t make any difference.

Hmmmm after I had the correct link it took a while to load. Looks good.

  1. Last Post link doesn’t go to last post.

  2. When posting a reply you are taken to the middle of the current thread, not the bottom.

Boomer,
I had a problem uploading pics from my RCS website server. Just a line of code was in the field of text.
Then I realised a pop blocker needed removing so I did that and then a separate field dropped down into which I inserted the URL. That then automatically loaded the pic onto the post.

Bob; The three threads on EMILY…

Please, could you in some way, combine the two original threads (In the General Forum), and join/attach them to the new thread in the rolling stock Forum

Also…

In the heading for the new Emily thread on the Rolling stock Forum; I spelled Stirling wrong.

I have corrected it in the text, but I can’t change the heading.

…it should be spelled “STIRLING” Could you correct it for me ?

Is the “who’s on line” like that was on the bottom of the forum gone?

JB,
It’s now on the Home page, on the left.
Ralph

“Sign In” still does not rememer me, despite being faithfully checked each time. Does it have Oldtimer’s disease?

To those that are emailing me angry or impatient emails about their favorite missing feature, I say PATIENCE. If you read the threads in the website forum, you know what features people have asked for, or said are missing. Whining about them in email to me wont get it done any faster.

Grrrrr

We sometimes forget this isn’t your “day job” and you have a life too  Ralph

Hi Bob

I have to increase the type size on the Mac to read it. When I do the type on the website doesn’t wrap but just cuts it off on the right so the sentences can’t be read. Anything I can do?

That “send me notifications” message after this note. Do I have to click this every time I write a note?

Not a complaint, but an observation that might help troubleshoot other folks log-in issues.

I access from forur different PCs. My main home machine is where I first connectetd to the new system. I can log-in from there with no trougble, but if I leave it automatially logs me out. My PC at job #1 was second to access the new system. I logged in yesterday and didn’t log out. Today it recognized me when I connected with no log-in needed. My PC at job #2 acts just like my home PC - must log in every time. I haven’t tried yet from home PC #2 in the shops.

Probably running different versions of FF at each place. Tomorrow I’ll look. Work PC #2 is FF 18.0.1

Great observation Jon. I’m getting kicked off and locked out on my main PC.

But, surprise, I’m still logged in on my Netbook. Both are running the same version of IE.

I’ll have to see about clearing the cookies on the main PC and see if that helps.
