New RR TV show

In case anyone has missed the promos, the History Channel is starting a new show about RR’s called Extreme Trains, airing on Tuesday nights at 10pm. I have no idea about the quality or even the content but its worth taking a peek to see what its about. Heck RRing is pretty rare on the tube so anything is almost better than nothing.

Saw it last week. The style was little over-the-top for me, but still interesting. They repeated last week’s episode on Sunday night.

I found that the show met this standard to a "T".

Allan Miller and Rich Melvin, editor and publisher of O Gauge Railroading are unanimous in bashing this program.

I enjoyed it, and have all of the episodes tagged to record.

What it sounds like to me is “sour grapes” because this made the cut to be shown on TV and theirs didn’t. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll still watch it, but I completely agree with this post on the O Gauge forum…

Here's my take on it...

The host: He reminded me way too much of the guy (Richard Lesko) in the question mark emblazoned carnival coat on the Capitol steps explaining how you can get free government money - or, alternatively, Richared Simmons. He was way too exuberant to the point of being redundant, obnoxious, and boring.

The video clips: The video clips were not well edited. First, four engines pulled the train…in the next clip, on the same train, two engines pulled the train. This went back and forth several times. I didn’t notice the full/empty coal cars.

The lack of content: There was more 8-year-old type excited hype than there was fact based content. A lot more narrative would have added to the value and interest along with the video.
