New Project: Ozark Class A Climax

These are the powered drivers for the Ozark Miniatures Class A Climax kit I am building. There are no instructions with the kit that say how to wire these things up. I don’t know what make these are. They are not as heavy as the metal Aristo ones I purchased for my last Class A Climax project. The units do not run when placed on the track and given power so I assume they need to be wired together. There is a Red, Black, Green & Yellow wire on each of the powered units. Am I correct in assuming that they should go Red to Red, Black to Black etc?

Thanks for the help

Those sure look like HLW motor blocks , all that I have only have a red black wire comeing out .
I would take one motor block , connect the white to red and the green to black , place on the track and see if it runs . If it does , then yes the two blocks would be connected red - red , black -black , with the white to the same color set on eack block , visa vera for the green , . Of course if you had a ohmmeter you could figure this out quickly , since you asked I assume that you do not have a ohmmeter .
Good luck

And yes you could connect the white to the black ,and the green to the red …but being a electrican for many years , I have a natural aversion to connecting a black and white wire together , ha ha ha , its just me .

I actually already tried red to red, yellow to yellow, black to black and green to green. They still do not run. If however, what you are saying above red to yellow, green to black, then connecting red to red on the second unit doesn’t seem to make sense. Perhaps I need to connect red to yellow, and green to black from one unit to the other?

I do indeed have an ohmmeter however, I havne’t a clue how to use it in this situation

Ok… got it. Red from one to Yellow on the second and visa versa. That works!

Actually… it isn’t working. I am missing something here! If I take just one truck and wire the green to black and the red to yellow an apply track power the unit will run. I was thinking then that I needed to wire the red from the front unit to the yellow of the rear unit. The red from the rear unit to the yellow of the front unit. The black from the front to the green on the back and black from the back to green on the front. However, when I touch power to the front wheels (either set) the read unit will run but the front does not. If I apply power to either set of rear wheels the front unit will run but the rear won’t.

An electrical engineer I am not  What am I missing?

ah… I finally got it. The reds and yellows from each unit need to be together and the greens and blacks together. Now it works

WHEW ! I just knew you could do it !

Yes, they are Hartlands. Ozark is also a HLW seller.
I would guess that one pair of wires are the power leads from the wheels for track power (green and yellow?) and the other pair to go the motor (red and black).
