Is anyone else seeing that the “new post” icon doesn’t go away after the post is read? It was working normally today, but earlier this evening I couldn’t get the site to connect for a while, and now I can’t get rid of the “new post” icon. Even using “mark all as read” doesn’t change it.

Yep, I was going to email Bob this morning. But I see you have brought it to light. Thank you. Its nice to see that soemone else is experiencing the same situation. It lets you know you aren’t just going nuts. Well, maybe that is to literal. Glad you reported it Jerry.

So I was not the only one who could not get on lastnight for a bit. Never noticed the icon before but now that you brinng it up I see what your talking about.

Seriously, the site was inaccessible (“server not responding” message) for some time last night. It was working fine before the disruption, then didn’t work when it came back. Was there some kind of attack?
I’m sure glad there are people like Bob McCown who are not only experts at dealing with this stuff, but also seem to enjoy it!

Yes. Point out a problem here on LSC, and the boss quickly addresses it.
Point out a problem on some of the other LS train sites, and you’re told the computer and browser(s) you are using are total junk.

I find the “new post” icon persists also, but it is usually because I have not read all of the pages. For example, I’ll log off and 2 more messages are placed on the bottom of the page, then a new page starts up and 3 more are put on. (5 new messages total.) When I next log in, the program takes me to the last page. If I don’t go back and read the previous page (with 2 unread messages on it,) the new page icon will persist.
Operator error on my part, I think.

Yes, what you describe is the normal behavior here on the LSC website. That’s not what was happening on the 13th. No matter if you went to all pages, the new post icon was still there. Bob fixed it a few hours after we posted the problem.
I hadn’t noticed before that the problem was on Friday, the 13th. Maybe that’s the explanation.

I still dont know what the issue with Mr Berg not being able to access the site was. Wish I could get more information about what was going on.
Unfortunately I don’t think you ever will. He’s convinced you locked him out. I tried to reason with him in email, but gave up.
Figures. Despite 9 years of “I don’t ban anybody” someone comes along and thinks I’ve been lying all that time.
