Hello Bob Mc Cown:

Thanks o all of you for your words of welcome! A little history about me and the modeling hobby: I am four score and four years old and have known Dave T and his family for over 40 years. About 5 years ago,Dave induced me to complete two stick built 120.3 box car models for his layout, which led to my first historic Narrow Gauge depot at Red Mountain pass near Silverton CO. at elevation of approx. 11,000’ above MSL in side a ‘wye’ of the Silverton RR. This historic Depot was built in 1889 at a cost of $ 1,600. The depot does not exist today, I used a sketch and historic photos to duplicate the structure. Dave and I worked on this together and we donated it to the San Juan County Historical Society in Silverton, CO.

Next, I assembled a Depot for Dave’s layout which led to the D&RG RR Farmington, NM Depot which I attached a photo of yesterday in the LSC Forum. The large holes are for Museum Visitors to see the finished interior.I used ‘foot print’ exterior dimensions and historic photos to attempt to match what was there. The Depot was built by the DRG RR in 1905 and was destroyed by a NG explosion in January 1963. The Farmington “Short Line’ was built in broad gauge and about the same time as the DRG RR, in 1923 or so, was changed to the DRGW RR this broad gauge short line was narrowed to 3’, .

As Dave stated, I am a slow learner, being a 'slide rule Engineer, on the use of ‘Photo Bucket and the LSC Forum and as time goes by, I will share photos of my other model attempts. Bare with me, I’ll get there, I am just slower than I used to be. Well, a lot slower.

Welcome Aboard, Larry!

Welcome aboard, and some great modeling that you have done…

As Ken stated… ““There’s a few of us Old folks here””… (Even Rooster is old, he just don’t know it)…

Dang mouse… Dup input…

Welcome aboard, Larry. You have the Midwatch. Stow your gear, and then grab a cup of Joe.

That is a sweet model that you built, really nice.

Yes, Steve, the reason it it had to look good is because of all the full size Narrow Gauge restorations such as the 315 Engine and tender a couple gondolas and now refrigerator cars, cabooses etc. Most all of the “restorers” are RIVIT COUNTERS. i AM IN THE PROCESS OF posting photos bear with the new old man from NM… Larry
