New navigation tool

Just when I was about to ask for a link back to the forum index at the top of each page, rather than only at the bottom, I notice this little navigation bar on each forum index page…

Home > Forums > Website

I don’t know how long it;'s been there - but I like it.

Thanks Bob !!!

All part of cleaning up the look of the forums. That widget is called a 'breadcrumb". I’m getting ready to drop in a new forum index, too. Some of you may remember the one I tested a few months ago, but found some bugs in it. I now have it working. A bit more testing, and Ill put it in place.

looks good, bob…

Bob,

The new index page with the new post summary is SUPER!!! THANK YOU!

And if you don’t like it, you can hide the post summary with the <<>> button thats there

Thats a neat tool… tks… I’m still learing how to not keep seeing all post each time i go back … I lose track of what i looked at…I missed something some where. but looking good Bob.

Still like to know how you are going to oper your 3 way track switch yet when you get a chance to let us know… later me

I likes what you have done.

How about putting a breadcrumb at the bottom of the forum index page? That way, the lazy ones like me won’t have to scroll ALL the way back to the top, just to refresh the page. :stuck_out_tongue:

My only complaint is that the post summary doesn’t stay hidden once I hide it. As soon as I come back to the index page it’s back again !

Bob, again I like the new look and what you have done. I use I.E. and I used the hide summary button after reading the forums. I left the site without logging out, and when I came back on the summary section appeared spread over half the page, but the forum index was gone until I hit the hide summary button. Edit to add This behavior now continues each time I return to the forum index page

I agree with Gary.

I would like the post summary to stay hidden once “hidden” is selected. Even when the page is refreshed.

Love the new index page
Ralph

I like the way the pages can all be marked as read from the index. Really fast now.

Thanks Bob.

Fixed that, should work as advertised now.

Bob, my problem with the summary area and the forum index has been resolved thank you.

So far so good. It’s very fast and navigation is much simpler. Thanks Bob

Bob?? Seems that, if is a new comment on page 1 & 2, it doesn’t show as read, if I start on page two, then go back to page one… In order to clear the "“New Entry” check mark, I have to hit ““Marks all as read”” on the main page…

Hey, I had something like that happen to me as well, Andy.

when you return to the forums index you have to use the “Navigation Tool” and not the back arrow on your browser.

You just need to use the right sequence and it works as advertised (New and much improved!) :stuck_out_tongue:

PS BTW have you forgotten the upgrades on some of the other sites? Even “getting used to it” or using the right sequence wouldn’t help with some of those! :expressionless: :open_mouth: :frowning:

I've seen that too exactly how you describe it. If I go back to the last page again (from the forum index) it will clear - or if there are no other posts in that forum I use the mark all.

This is actually an improvement on how it used to work, but I’m sure Bob will consider it a bug. In the old version (before any of Bob’s fixes) if there were new posts on two pages it would clear the flag if you only read that last page. Now it at least tells you that you missed something on a previous page.

I think if the New Post link was able to take you to the first new post, the problem could go away because you would read in order through the last page.
