New Microscale products for bonding/painting Delrin

Today, I received a recent press release from Microscale on several products to assist the hobbyist. These items are designed to overcome the problem when joining difficult surfaces such as Delrin type slippery engineering plastics and etched brass parts and ensuring permanent paint adhesion.

First off is “Micro PREP”. This is a surface treatment used prior to bonding slippery surfaces such as Delrin. It is used prior to both gluing (bonding) and painting slippery engineering plastics and brass surfaces. Second is three grades of bonding adhesive called Micro Bond. It is available in thin, medium and thick. Hopefully, these products will improve the success rate for both bonding and paint adhesion on these difficult plastics.

Thanks for the heads up Tim

Has anyone experimented with the PVC cementing products for yard PVC water pipe? For my yard water lines, I use the prep first and then the cement. Curious if there is a correlation in products for Delrin plastic.

Alas, Micro Prep cannot be shipped airmail. No surface shipping to downunder so no Micro Prep heading my way.

I know the Oatey brand of pipe cements and cleaners work on most of the plastics I use and the cleaner helps the bonding when I use other plastic cements. But, I haven’t tried them on Delrin.
