Hello all,

I have been a lurker here for a couple of years. I have enjoyed some of the topics of discussion very much and thought I should be able to at least contribute an attaboy once in a while so took the plunge and signed up. Also I like the way the members here seem to conduct themselves.

About me.
Just an old guy that likes steam trains, logging, and sawmills, and the history of them in Northen California. Northern California, that’s the south end of the Pacific Northwest, Though some would argue that, they can’t deny the Cascade Mountain Range starts about 50 miles from my house.

I model logging and shortline operations in 1:20.3, on a raised table outdoor railroad as per Richard Smith, Running exclusively Bachmann engines and mostly scratch or bashed cars.

I have been a member of what seems to be referred to as “the other site” for several years, some of you my recognize my name and remember my lame posts but that’s too bad Bob let me sign up anyway.

So Hi to all and maybe I’ll be able to contribute something worthwhile sometime.
Rick Marty

Welcome Rick!

Welcome Rick…we needed a dedicated “Lumberman” around here. There are way too many “Deseasle” people around here lately !!!

Greetings Rick, and welcome aboard!

Welcome Rick. I’m living prof that bob will let anyone sign up. He tells me I’m safe as long as the check don’t bounce.

Welcome aboard Rick. Just keep your flame suit and bullet-proof vest handy…

Welcome Rick, tis not for the faint of heart.

Welcome Aboard!

Welcome Rick. Feel free to jump right in

Pleased to meet you!

Yo Rick - welcome indeed!!! Just a tip, move about 50 miles north just as soon as you can. When Cascadia declares independence you’ll be part of it, instead of a furriner.

Richard Smith as been very kind to me and my family over the years, taking us in when cold and wet, and a nicer pair of folks than him and Helen would be hard to find.

I’m in the process of rebuilding my little track so that my Garratt doesn’t fall off it, and will be over to plague Richard sometime in the summer, having been there in all the other seasons.

This forum is a mite different, you’ll find, because we tend not to suffer fools, but instead advise them of the errors of their ways. So far I have escaped, but then, I live a long way away, and I have lots of guns.

Graders to you and yours!

If Terry ever pays a return visit here; I’ll be sure to put him on a better path towards real operations…!!!

Rick,

You may be a recent participant but there’s nothing “new” about you. hehe!

Always a delight to have you around. Welcomen!

Welcome aboard, Rick. You have the Mid-Watch. Coffee’s on down in the Goat Locker. Find your rack, stow your gear and meet us in the mess.

Greetings Rick new posters always welcome

Dave

Hi all,
Thanks for the welcome and sage advice.

Actually that boundry is southeast of here so am already in the zone. But, to tell the truth, I have never heard of “Cascadia” then, I have only lived here my whole life, so far. Now, if you be speaking of the proposed state of Jefferson we will be on board, so to speak.

I have to agree with your sentiment about Mr. & Mrs. Smith, well at least Mrs. Smith. hehehehehe… Which brings up the next subject.

Hello Richard.
Is this a case of the pot calling the kettle black?

By the way I am in the planning stages for Smith’s Camp on the Trinity River. Grocries, Gas, Cabins, and boat rentals in the back woods. Access by Auto or Rail be sure to stop into the Broken Spoke bar for refreshments, fishing stories, and local gossip. More details as they develop.

Thanks for your time.

Don’t be left out, now.

Both our cars over here have Cascadia nationality stickers, as does one of them in Canada. Where’s yours?
