Hello to all…

Just another new member. I’ll read thru the gen .discussion and try to see whars going on.
About me; Retired entertainer. Retired wood peddler.
In choo choo’s since the early 60’s. Eyes gave up & I couldn’t see HO well enough. Moved to G gauge 15 years ago & Idaho about around 8 years ago.
layout under const for the last 8 years, with a long period of doing nothing on it. Restarted again this Spring. The first couple of years put a 4 track storage & fiddle yard in the garage with a run-around track & a couple of engine pockets. That little burg is called “Cascade”. That was followed by a 110’ track to a small division point yard by the name of “Garden Valley”. (Their really is a town by that name North of Boise.) It’s L shaped, about 42’ long. 8 tracks wide, a separate switch lead at the North end thru a double crossover & uses both #6 & #8 turnouts. the West end yard throat starts with a 3 way #6. All ties switches & code 250 are hand laid. A controversial issue–The base of this yard is made of the dreaded “plywood”. It’s been there over 7 years with NO delamination. My secret-- at LEAST 3 coats of OIL BASED paint to seal it. ANY color mis mixes are fine & cheap. Just do the last coat in some shade of brown.
This year I’m extending to the town of Emmett. I’ve re-built the junction at Banks, built & installed four bridges & about 140’ of mainline to Emmett with around 60’
of track & 9 switches in Emmett. In the process of installing the rail at Emmett now.
That’s about it for me. Sorry to rant on so long.
Let’s use the online name “DRUMR” to identify me. That fits both of my former profession. Anxious to hear from anyone & get involved.
