Here’s Chuck’s post…
Hi Guys,
Received the new issue of GR yesterday. While checking the St Aubin’s Gazette ran across this goody. LGB via Marklin is in bankruptcy for a second time, a suitable buyer is being sought. Rumor is that the " Must manufacture in Europe criteria has been lifted from from qualifications. If that restriction has been removed it seems likely that the parent company owning Bachman would be the most likely to acquire the Marklin/LGB package. Beyond that the future of LGB is pure speculation, but I think it is safe to assume that all production would eventully be moved to China and distribution of the LGB line would be through existing Bachman Channels
This is on the first page of their add on page 24 of the Aug. GR.

Any supporting data from overseas supporting the Kader scenario?
If so, what product quality standards will Kader support or impose?
Wendell
Wendell,
Mums the word on the Euro front, other than Pluta emphasizing that it needs to be someone with deep pockets and a genuine interest in model railroads … which means some will fit the one but not the other and vice versa. In my opinion it’s a tall order and reality will dawn sooner or later, which then - still strictly my opinion - will mean a so-so solution.
You guys are over four months late and several million dollars short:

“After purchasing Sanda Kan last November, could the rumored to be troubled Marklin, and their coveted LGB brand be up for acquisition as well?”

What happens when Kader owns ALL of the large scale brands?
(well, except USA Trains, which seems to have a completely independant power source…)
Then what happens?

They can dictate price, quality, and availability, and we can whizz up a rope.
Howard can keep finding obscure on-off prototypes or even “proposed but never built”, Stanley can keep pushing the Ames Socket Du Jour into whatever they build.
BTW, USA is built by Sanda Kahn, now owned by Chairman Ting.
