New Layout - New Reckless Experimentation

See below

LMAO… I know Vic!

You offered me the Ralph Brown Great Trains stuff you wanted to sell when I talked about wanting Superliners and an F40 (back in the day in the hood) but they were not BIG ENOUGH for me at the time so I declined ! Should have gone 2rail O scale outside knowing what I know now!
Oh and since we are talking out loud and in public YOU ARE fully responsible for the face on Ralphie the rail scale which started a slight face fetish! I about crapped my pants when it was in my mail box about 3 weeks later after I asked for it as you didn’t want it for a bash you were doing at the time. Huge surprise for me but the Thomas Faces on some of my builds “ARE ALL YOUR FAULT” !!!
I forget what you ever did with the Chloe that I was dismembering for Utility but only ?

I honestly believe the NEW RECKLESS EXPERIMENTATION has nothing to do with a layout at all . Hell I don’t take a dump without a plan so I don’t even know what else to say other than thank you !

:rooster:

Vic’s flats are much like I did with Cliffport Platform.

LOL, Chloe got reassembled completely, if it’s the same one I’m thinking of. The only change was repainting the cab and adding a bogie under the rear for a 2-4-4. It’s in the garage on the pizza, should take her out running it again.

Little update: this came out rather nice so I wanted to share. This is a 1/32 diorama hydrocal model I am using as a ghost town like ruin on part of my indoor layout. Also showing it on place on the layout. The other buildings are also diorama models. I had to cut one building in 2, went far better than I expected. Anyway I’ll try to post more progress in the future.

Great attention to detail Vic, as usual! The debris is excellent.

And that’s a great nod to Carl Arendt, nice. Did you ever meet him?

are you going to modell Germany in may '45?

it’s really refreshing to see some used(up) buildings instead of the standard pristine and sterile plastic houses.
where are you buying these buildings for bashing?

Cliff, I exchanged several emails with Carl before he passed, he included 3 of my mini layouts in his microlayout books.

Korm, straight off eBay. I try to find kits that look appropriate, are not too big, and can be built with my meager skills. I just finished another, need to photograph it.

gone fishing ? - fishing for compliments?

thanks. now i’ll be off fishing as well. on the bay.

Korm, I’ve seen enough stuff to know my skill level. I still consider myself a moderately skilled modeller. I’ve seen up close Master Modellers work and I know I’m woefully short on many levels. It’s always best for me to be honest with myself about my abilities and push whenever I can to try new skills. I’m not expecting to ever be the next Malcolm Furlow, but I can sure have fun trying.

Some update photos on the layout, it’s coming along.

Wow Vic, this is incredible. You’re applying all your pizza skills into an amazing, intense, surrounding and vertical wonderland.

Will you be able to get all those loops & levels moving eventually? Even if the upper shelves are for storage, it would still be awesome.

Eventually, long term plan is to incorporate the Pizza layout into a permanent home on the layout. It’ll get there one day.

Time for an update, and I’ve been a Busy Bee. I have reached a level of basic finish with weathering and ballasting track remaining. I need a stretch of hot dry weather to stain and dry the Jonny Cat kitty litter I have used for indoor ballast. Anyways on to the pics, I have a lot of pics this time, I will post them in batches of 5 pics just to make it more manageable.

And finally my outside workbench, the inside one isn’t much neater.

That’s all for now, will post more once I start putting ballast down. I’m planning on not gluing it. That way any trackwork or additions will just require vacuuming up the ballast then replacing it once work is done.
