Large Scale Central

New Hope & Ivyland RR

A friend of mine wrote, filmed and produced this for a South Carolina TV station in 2006.
Nice video and gives a bit of history on the L&C 2-8-0 #40.
The Lancaster & Chester is known as “The Spring Maid Line”. Formed by Springs Textiles to service their factories.
The L&C is still in operation today, as is the New Hope & Ivyland RR and #40

And they got a neat lookin station…

Nice loco in operation . I am always amused by the number of the smaller steam locos that survived and operate now in 2012 , and how few "super power steam " locos are around even parked somewhere . The humble 0-4-0 and 2-6-0 and 4-6-0 and 2-8-0 and 2-8-2 will live on and operate for years .
Almost like our LS trains , there are many many small locos running on garden railroads , compared to the BIG 2-8-8-2 and so on locos .

Thanks for posting This art. and the great video.

That is a pretty cool looking station.
I think I could come to York every Spring for the next 10 years and not run out of RR related “side trips”.
