Randy, I’m sorry to say that I can’t throw any more light on it that you have seen, but I WILL find out more when we make our compulsory visit to Tillamook in June. It’s a got-to-go-there spot for us for the sake of the Tillamook Cheese factory ice cream, around a hundred flavours!!!
The loco is currently in the shops on the Tillamook Air Museum site, and since we are good customers of the railroad, riding it at least twice every visit over, I’m sure that I’ll get the skinny on the state and progress of this ultra-rare THREE-truck Heisler. There is also some added information on the OCSR site, along with photos from its service with Pickering Lumber Co. It is one fine-looking loco, that’s for sure.
We are also supporters of the Cape Meares Lighthouse Preservation fund, albeit in a small way, as befits two old folks with barely a nickle and a cent to rub together these days…and join up a lot of visit ‘dots’ around the same area.
