Ouch a little pricey for me 99.95.

Shawn,

If you new what the investment was in modeling all those parts, having 3d solid models made, and having urethane molds made to get to the result you would know that this is a bargan considering the limited market. Bob has spend a lot of hours working on this. thankfully his is a labor of love for the hobby.

I kind of thought it was a fair price indeed. I will definitely pick one up! :)

Cost of computer to run a 3D solid modelling program such as Solidworks or Inventor =approx $3000
Cost of program such as Solidworks or inventor = approx $3000 to $6000
Cost of 3D printer (this varies wildly based on a LOT of factors, resolution being one of them) = $40k to $100k
Cost of hours to produce said masters. Rough estimate 40 hours @ $20/hr = $800 (VERY LOW ESTIMATE)
Cost of materials @ $5 per cubic inch for material = Estimating 10 cubic inches = $50
Overhead for the business that does thisā€¦$100 per hour +

End result $100 for this kit is probably pretty reasonableā€¦

Nice model for those in need of such. Indeed a fair price to be sure.

Im sure its a very reasonable price and its a beautiful model. I personaly would not pay that much. Especially if its going to sit outdoors on my layout.

But you will look at the pic and build your own so that it can sit outdoors. :)

I would have to agree with you Shawn, I would NOT set it outside on my layout either. But it would make a great looking flat car load, blocked and chained in place:) That's what I have in mind for it.
