New guy with a logging car question

Hello all,

My name is Matt, I live in Peoria Az,and I model primarily DRGW (original i know) and logging railroads. I have a small compliment of cars but would like to expand my logging car roster. I would like to build my cars from scratch and was hoping to get some input or maybe some plans for a variation of cars. Additionally where would I get a lot of the smaller detail parts? Is there a company that provides the white metal castings for this?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Matt

Matt,
Lots of logging detail items here:

Hey John, thanks a lot! They have a lot of neat items on that site!

There was a plan for making a generic skeleton logging car in GR a few years back. If nobody on your side of the pond has it, I’m happy to send you a copy of mine.

I figure on making a pretty good looking car for about $10 - including a few NBW and doo-dads to give it a bit of style. If you batch-build using a jig, you can easily make ten in an evening - I did and my thumbs outnumber my fingers. Trucks come from Bachmann and with metal wheels, cost another $10-15 a pair. Or just get lucky at a show like I did - fifteen sets for $50…
