Large Scale Central

New guy in town

Hello, my name is Robert. So let me tell you all a little about myself, if I may.
I’ve been a HO modeler since 2010. Did a layout; tore it down; building a new one(bigger).
I have this nice semi-big back yard that been screaming “Do me, do me” One day my lovly wife said, “Wouldn’t it be nice to have a train running in the back?”
Well…Yes it would!!!
We want a fun railroad, something whimsical, with Fairies, Trolls, water wheels, (believe me my HO set up is serious enough.)
So now I’m doing lots of research, buying how-to book, and yes, joining forums.
So in advance, forgive me if all I do is ask questions, but offer little input.
I do have an idea of what I want to run…live rail, with motive power being of the Steam era.
Thank you letting me pent a little.
Rob of M&R Lines.

Welcome to the best crowd of train guys… well almost all of them… a couple of ole sore heads… but you’ll figure them out…

Welcome Robert…and ask away. We answer any questions. Might not get the right answer, but you’ll get an answer…

Who’s the guy with the Lord of the Rings line … the dragon fired locomotives, the ginormous Minas Tirith, etc? Brandywine and Gondor RR, maybe? Sounds like this fellow would enjoy the trail it’s blazed …

Robert,
You guys are on a great adventure, enjoy! And Welcome Aboard

Glad to have you aboard, Robert. If you like whimsical, you need to take a look at Jim Strong’s Woodland Railway.

He really makes some nice buildings. There’s been a few posts here that show how neat it is. at last! a sane person! not just a train nut.

as was mentioned above, Chris Walas is the king of whimsical.

for fairies and trolls we got David. - he’s a hobbit-nut.
