Large Scale Central

New guy in town

Hiya

Thought I would drop in and introduce myself, from the other side of the pond.

I have only recently got interested in these forums, and strayed here from…another forum you don’t seem to get on with!

I live on the Isle of Man, a 32 mile long, 12 mile wide island between England and Ireland, with only 76000 population. We are not part of the UK or the European Union, but a tiny independant country with the oldest democratic parliament in the world.

I model the New Haven in HO, and have G scale (getting there now…) in the garden, using LGB and USA trains equipment, and a little live staeamer to burn my fingers on.

I also was involved with a large USA G scale indoor layout in my last club before I moved over here.

Hope to get to know you guys and have a good laugh and enjoy your company, talking about our common interst - TRAINS!

Neil.

Niel -

A hearty welcome from a fellow NH&HRR fan. I live near Danbury, CT where there still exists a number of NH relics, including some rolling stock at the Danbury Railway Museum.

The former Maybrook Line runs through here and connects just north of Danbury to the Berkshire line. Both of these are now operated by the modern version of the Housatonic Railroad Co. (If you can call GP-9’s modern).

Neil,

Glad to hear from the Isle of Man. Thanks for the info too. I always thought you were part of the UK. Shows what I know! hehe!

This is a great site. I get along with the other site too. Always pays to have options. Besides there are some good people over there too (and maybe some that aren’t) but that’s life!

Anyway I think you’ll like it here. Welcome!

Welcome aboard, we try to geyt along with everybody. With enough Rum, we can get along with anybody. (Diclaimer - Rum is only for medicial purposes)

Mike

and welcome to the offshore chappie , a Manxman ; I take it that you have no tail either , like the cats ?

Ahm still lookin fer the Isle of wimmen.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, I try to get on with everybody, it’s my nature. I like the LS forum over there, some good advice on it.

Being an ex-seafarer myself, I fully approve of the taking of medicinal rum, we’re trained for it you know!

Well, as it happens we became the Isle of Wimmin for a day last year - it was a promotional thing for Yorkie bars (male oriented candy to our US cousins) which were done in pink wrappers, with the reverse of the usual slogans on them, (‘not for girls’ became ‘not for men’!) and given out free. Collecters items now.

Here’s to the weekend, might get a run in inbetween the rain…

PS - Rod, luuurve that USA tank - beyond my skills though!

Welcome, my son…you are very welcome…
