New group?

Over on the other site there is a live steam group and I thought, why not a battery mafia group??

Now we could have our own numbers too. Haven’t figured out a significance of a number just yet but it’s there somewhere.

Anyone interested ? Or will this just pass into cyberspace ?

Cheers,

I was doing battery R/C before any of you “Johny Come Latelys” whippersnappers so I claim # 1 ticket holder.

I just might know who would be NUMBER 2. The ol' crusty gent ?

I was doing battery in Parkflyers years ago but too many crashes and then I tried Helis. Boo Hiss on that…Still have a Ferris/farras, what ever and a heli left over.

Cheers,

I first flew gas powered R/C planes with my dad in 1957 using home built Hills receivers.
TX and RX powered by batteries of course.

Tony

I flew R/C and used of all things, escapements ?? 1963 I believe… Oh those days were just too primitive by today’s standards…

Reminds me of my first computer, 2megs memory and no hard drive… yada yada…

Back to the present time,

Cheers,

Amateurs .

I was then and still am now.

Oh , gawd , why do I bother .

Mike, Good question!?! BTW how did you like my compressed switching layout?? Had you speechless??? On the Mafia: No way, they’re on the run in Sicily.

But we could ask Bob if he would install a unique feature: Are you familiar with the Golden Boy in Brussles? Well having him pee a little farther as the post-numbers increase would be a very fitting representation.

Yeh but I was thinking about it before that! ;)

Like I said , amateurs .
Hans , the switching layout was interesting . I "posted " a reply , but probably forgot to hit the “submit” button .
Sad old case , really , used too much radio control back in the forties .
10 foot span sailplane at Sutton Park , Birmingham . Helping a bloke called Desoutter .

Precisely the reason the “variable Golden Boy” would come in handy, if it’s a pi…g contest lets have an icon to go with it.

An electrifying contribution: a “packaged power” group devoted to the negative and positive features of the current non-terminal thinking about battery power.

Good idea as well all can learn more from those who are experienced.

However, one concern:
I suspect it was TOC who coined the use of “dismal” as a reference for diesel.
That act alone unknowingly disparaged the “packaged power” group as diesels generate their own power and do not run on track energy. Hurmph.
Obviously, this mplicit criticism will be an immediate concern of contributors to this new interest category. Of course, not removing any possible negative about self-generation of electricity is truly dismal.

Yes, I had too much time on my hands.
I’m open for rebuttal.

Wendell

A rebuttal:
You are being clearly unfair to TOC. To suggest he is wired in prejudice of diesel power insulates him from the truth. “Dismal” is a term, uh, ah, a simple expression. Don’t be shocked!
Don’t blow a fuse! Now, as to the originator, we will have to see who makes the claim.

Wendell

Hell, in Narrow Gauge NA protoype they were few.
D&RGW had the switcher, the US Army tested a road helper unit there, SPNG had the “Little Giant”, WP&Y had the shovel-noses and such.
But by and large we are the confines of steam.
Be it outline or live.

That said, I have dismals.
LONG before I was in #1 gauge.

I just recently parted with my Adams and Sons FT’s.
I have many others, All-Nation F-3’s, SW’s, General Models 600HP switcher, Kemtron Geep, and that’s just the 2-rail.

I have probably more than that in 3-rail.
Hell, 2343’s don’t need no stinkin’ sound systems.
You can not only HEAR them coming, you can feel it in the benchwork.

I used to have one here on the CCRy.

But, alas, it was drafted.

It’s in the Army, now…

Let’s just hope since it chose Army over Navy that it’s loading torpedos or something, so TOC doesn’t have to disown it entirely. I still want my MLW/Bombardier DL535E/W in 1:20.3 … Matthew (OV)
