Very cool fleet of cars.
Have you fixed the shingles on my half of the station yet?
I expect it to be looking sharp for my visit
Ralph
Ralph, I’m thinking not, just a big blue tarp over your half. The LSML&E seems to be spending all their funds on building new rolling stock.
Randy McDonald said:LOL.......a blue tarp it is!

Can’t wait till there painted!
I love fresh box cars!
They’re painted…“There” is not the proper word in this case…
Dave, you are doing some nice work. You have me inspired to make a gondola. What is the size of it, especially the height?
Jerry I do most of my modeling from here
http://prr.railfan.net/diagrams/PRRdiagrams.html?sel=flat&sz=sm&fr=
this gondola scales out to 51’. All measurements are taken from the selected drawing. This includes height to top of floor and truck size and spacing.
If you are really into it don’t overlook the freight truck diagrams, and if you go to the passenger car tab you will find passenger car truck diagrams.
Hope it helps. Really like the 844 you’re doing.
Thanks David,
I pulled off a couple of plans. Good resource. Just will make a generic gondola, since I don’t have any. I do have a few trucks laying around.
Dave,
I got my wood base made for my chop saw, and the pieces cut out for a buddy that just got one. Sure glad you posted pix of that. Handy!
thanks,
Jerry
Wow, great set of cars there!
Hummm.
I 'm looking to make some flat cars to run with my live steam. Can I almost copy them I won’t put the trim in the center though?
David
Copy away David, but be sure to post pics for all.
Finally started painting the cars. Trucks for the LS,ML,&E cars.
Some primed and some painting started.
Covered Gons ready for lettering.
Trucks for the express box.
USA roofwalks were modified for some of the cars.
Getting ready to start the next color.
hollywood, looking good, man…
Those look familiar. Didnt I just see them yesterday. The look great. The block of stores look even better in person.
Hey Dave,
Nice looking models. Where did you get the tops for the gondola’s with the rounded edges?
Chuck
A pic I forgot to take Chuck. I used a piece of 1"x6" pine, beveled from both edges to center at roughly 3 degrees then rounded over with a router. This was then sheeted over with 3 pieces of .010 plastic with gaps between the sheets. Hope this helps.
Thanks Dave for the information. Northern Pacific had some boxcars with that type of roof, I’ll have to give that a try this winter.
Finally able to get the painting done. The cars are together and ready for lettering. Still had some issues with the Krylon paints, but all in all things have gone fairly well. Flat car , with cribbing , and with load.
Lake Side steel box cars.
My bulk mail transport car still needs stripes.
A C&O box to add variety.
Once the lettering comes in I’ll be able to finish these . During the wait I’ll do the little touch up paint that’s needed.
