Large Scale Central

New Bridge

Beautiful layout!

Damn nice!

Wow, that looks great! Too bad about GMM, I hope they will be able to return to production. Their deck bridges are really nice.

A little planting added. Still have lots to do before we start crossing it.

One end abutment done now. It’s 3 feet tall made from PVC with the first 2 feet buried in building sand, not cheap but I’m tired of concrete. The rest of the fill is stone, sand, gravel etc. More rocks will be added “planted” near the abutment to control erosion…but that’s it for the moment

REAL nice, Larry.

Very fine looking railroad Larry. I admire your nice flowing trackwork very much too.

Great idea for the abutment. I might just steal that

wow, that looks good…

Sweet! Great use of PVC. I’ll have to try it out. Thanks for sharing.

Nice bridges Larry. I debated on using GMM’s bridge columns but I wanted a more open, thin look. I also love the detail work on the deck bridges. GMM did an excellent job on them.

More work. Added about 4 more yards of fill to raise the roadbed up to the needed elevation. Also “planted” another bridge today. Work now moves to the other end of the long GMM bridge. Tomorrow I’ll get more PVC for the other abutment. Should have this 260 foot extension done before Turkey Day.

It just keeps getting better. Looking good Larry.

Looking real good Larry.

Having recently shoveled and wheelbarrowed 4 yards of dirt, I appreciate how much effort it takes. THAT’S A LOT OF DIRT! Please keep posting those photos.

Great looking addition there Larry.

Larry, fantastic work. The yard looks great even without the added tracks.

larry, they said it all… wonderful layout…

A little more done yesterday. Went to the pit to get 1/2 yard of 3/4" stone left with 1 yard…it was easier. Wound up using it all, SO far…4 yards of loam, 2 yards of sand and 1 yard of 3/4" stone…and I still need 2 yards of loam (over where the sand is to ease the slope some more) and a yard of stone dust for ballast… That’s… 10 yards…all by wheel barrow and 5 gallon bucket. Oomph  But the hard part is done. Move the loam and throw in some track

That’s looking mighty nice, a lot different from when I saw the place just a month or so ago…
