New Blight

Went to a run today at one of my operator’s place. Not a bad railroad at all, fit into a very small city backyard.

But, in the garage, he had shelves of New Blight and Scientology trains. Stacks of the buggers.

What he runs are LGB, Bachmann, and Kalamzoo, I think.

I mentioned that if he ever cam across a New Blight tank car he didn’t need, I needed one. He turns around, reaches down under this pile, and pulls one out…handing it to me.

Several (many?) years ago, when I had to order out a bunch of Aristo water tank parts, I had an idea…since I had three New Blight tankers, I asked Navin if he had any of the bases with legs.

Man, they had a LOT of those! Sold the tanks, ladders, spouts and spout supports.

I cut the bases apart for supports for…locomotive oil refueling tanks. I have three out there, next to water tanks, and I have a fourth set of legs…now to pull the tank apart, seal the handrail support holes, paint black, and mount it up.

Another project in the “done” book shortly!

TOC

I like to use the New Bright tanker cars with my 1/32nd stuff. I just got 3 more to convert over with new trucks/metal wheels//etc. Kadee 821’s.

They don’t look too bad Jerry, details a little thick of course. Have you measured them to see how close to scale they are?

Greg

They are 11.25" end to end on the frame. Not sure what some of the real sizes were on smaller/older tank cars.

That came out nice, Jerry!
