Cale: I agree. Boulder Valley Models has a ton of great ‘upgrades’ for the On30 switcher. Their big boxcab was my inspiration for my own 7/8 boxcab.
OK I’m calling it here, the new Davenport shall be nicknamed “Davey”
(at least I havent seen it anywhere else yet)
I read that some one named it Davey over at MLS ! This is on his post

You call it Davey, then the 45er will have to be called Goliath…

Hmmmm…looks familiar…
Yeah, the MSRP is the MSRP.
But, they are trying something new in the marketing field.
Hopefully all manufacturers will follow suit!
Yesterday or the day before, they reset all the pricing for this diminutive loco (dimmy?) to…
Zero.
That’s right, order them before they change their minds!

I dunno. “Goliath” might be just the thing for the diminutive wreck! Kind of like calling a Yorkshire Terrier “Rambo.”
Goliath of Gath (Mechanical.) Now that has potential! What do you think, Rev. Cale?
Matthew (OV)
** Incidentally: Any thoughts on whether the whole story is one of David vs. Goliath are strictly at your own risk.

Heard some interesting teaching on Goliath from Gath today…Seems when David slew the Giant, he be-headed him and took the head and buried it near Jerusalem…some believe that the site of Christs’ Crucifixion (Golgatha-Place of the Skull) is the place where the head was buried? Something about the Hebrew spellings of Goliath and Gath going togeter Gol of Gath…
(http://www.thebricktestament.com/king_saul/the_fate_of_goliaths_head/1s17_54a.jpg)
…then others say it is the burial place of Adam…the first man…I’m sure I messed it up, but it’s the best I could do it being so late and all… I’d be remiss not to mention, I am a Follower of the Way, but no Reverend…I host a Hard Music Show on the local FM, called the ZRevolution…hence the Rev… I digress…now back to the train discussion
Ah, but for $29.95 you can get your Certificate of Divinity and perform weddings!
Get you Head of-the-line priviledges at the Pearly Gates!
Adds countless Gold Stars to your Heaven Chart!
Erases numerous "Oh, ShXt!"s.

I saw that too.
What I am wondering is the MSRP that was up was $5 more than the B-SS Porter.
Now, assuming that the Japanese market is like the European one where deep discounters do not really exist, the Japanese site showed (when converting Yen) that their B-SS Porter price was on par with the US MSRP, but their price on the Davenport was $220 US.
Hmmmm. More news next week?
with link and pins? can’t seem to repost the pic from the blog? anyways it’s a nice rear view!
You need Lincoln Pins to haul Lincoln Logs, I think.
Matthew (OV)
And, here we are a week later, price holding at $0.00
Amazing value.
I see the couplers are just stuck in the link pockets.
Good enough.
Kinda disappointed they didn’t mean to have that big chunk of white foam behind the coupler.
That was a real conversation piece.
I just played Black Sabbath at 78 rpm and saw the entire next years 1.20.3 offerings. It was fine until I woke up.
Oh but this is just a dream… I must get back to sleep…

LOL!!!
Rod,
What happens when you play it backwards?
I could n’t tell the difference in my current state of mind…
from MLS:

… This is what some people are calling Stan Ames’ ‘2nd Generation’ socket. Stan just calls it an industry-standard 8 pin socket suitable for handling loads of 1 amp or less.(http://1stclass.mylargescale.com/garywoolard/BachmannatNMRA/07.CRW_2033.jpg)
Industry "Stan"dard…? what standard? I heard it’s a HO plug tossed in a Fn3 Loco? that works with some dcc decoders…as long as you don’t try to use the “smoke”
Seeing as it is for lighting and smoke in the Fn3 cabin (not loco) this is well below a single amp draw and should be fine for this application.
The question should be what is the voltage of the lighting for the non DCC folks that will either use track or battery power?
Cale,
You need to visit the NMRA web site…
Garrett,
If the are LED’s about 3.6 volts…
There are some 1.5 amp & 2 amp decoders that should work fine in the gas mechanical…
