Edit added: So that’s what the ‘announce’ button does? remind me to just craft my own next time.

Doesn’t make a lot of sense to announce a hidden article.

Except that I didn't hide it.... screwy program. Should be fixed now.

Ah - the same bug that Ken was dealing with the other day.

My target audience?.. me.

Dwayne, then you need to keep it in mind too. A buddy of mine was scratchbuilding a HO bakery. A gorgeous little thing with real glass windows (microscope slide covers). It was nearly complete when he didn’t like how one almost invisible joint came out, he couldn’t fix it to his satisfaction, so he destroyed the whole building. 100 or so hours of painstaking work simply gone… over a tiny flaw… Is perfection or nothing a sane course?

Mik well put.

I have always gone for the “I run what I like” rule. So far it has worked well for me.

No doubt well said Mik. I think I fit into #3 but then yet I have no clue what im doing. Your last comment about the HO guy destroying an engine from one mistake. In ways that just adds to the model.

I here you Mik. I’m not the perfectionist type. I always try to do my best at whatever I do… but if it doesn’t always come out perfect and I know I did my best, then I’m content. Only one man ever was perfect that I know of. And I don’t think he played with trains.

somebody, who doesn't play with trains, can't be perfect!

Mik,

Very well written article. Can I copy it to our club news letter? Of course, I would make sure you get all the proper credit.

go right ahead… feel free to use it any way you need to. That’s what it’s there for.

Here’s most of the ‘good’ stuff, if you ever need more filler…

As a youngster I was constantly frustrated because I could not paint and assemble the perfect model kit. My older brother hearing me whining about this one day handed me a blank sheet of white paper and asked “Is this perfect?”

When I said it was, he placed the edge of the paper under his microscope and had me look. Under microscopic examination the edge of the paper was a mash of rough fibers. “Nothing is perfect” he said, “just do your best and be happy with it”.

Very good common sense advice. Thank you for putting all this together.
